@BPrzybylo --

After a slugfest in the overtime win against Army, are we about to reverse course 180 degrees and get ready for a shootout for Oklahoma vs. Baylor?

It’s hard to say how it doesn’t turn out that way unless Mike Stoops’ defense has turned that corner in regard to stopping high-powered Big 12 offenses.

The Bears don’t seem to be a huge threat to the Sooners, but their big, physical, athletic receivers are going to make for some nervous moments at Owen Field on Saturday. The key for OU will be to limit those as much as possible.

The good news is if you love watching Kyler Murray and the rest of the offense work, you should enjoy Saturday because don’t be surprised if OU hits 40 plays before half unlike when it only had 40 plays in the entire game against Army.

You won’t see Marquise Brown get blanked in the catches category again this season, so you know he’ll be eager to return to form from the initial three weeks.

Running back Trey Sermon is cementing himself as the No. 1 guy, now we’ll see if the battle for No. 2 tightens a bit between Marcelias Sutton and T.J. Pledger.

Not to the same extent as Army, but if OU can create just a bit of separation on the scoreboard, this could be a stress-free second half, at least for the most part. The Sooners have not forced a fumble this season, see if that changes.

It won’t be smooth sailing for all 60 minutes, but OU’s offense returns to form and Sooners stay undefeated heading into the Red River Rivalry vs. Texas.

We talked about it on the pod this week but this feels like the kind of game that will either soothe some of the raging fires that exist amongst Oklahoma fans.

It's also got a chance to turn the division amongst the fans into a full on four-alarm fire.

The bottom line though? Oklahoma suffered last week against Army due, at least partially, to a defense that is built to stop...well, a Big 12 offense full of speedy receivers and high-powered passing attacks.

The problem with that?

It takes away any excuse should Oklahoma not hit the ground running this week against the Bears - the exact offense they are built to contend with.

The thing to remember that people, in all their anger, are forgetting is that the one truly strong defensive performance of the season came agains the only real Big 12 style offense the Sooners have faced - Florida Atlantic.

So have I cheered you and you're now sold on the future of Oklahoma's defense?

Yeah, me either.

That said, I'd expect a huge day from Kyler Murray and co. I'll also go ahead and predict Oklahoma's defense's second straight two turnover performance.

Thanks, Brian. And he's right. There's no reason to freak out after the therapy session we held on Wednesday. I'm back and better than ever. Clear eyes. Full heart. Can't lose -- kinda 'ish.

It remains to be seen how good this 2018 version of Sooners football can be. Few steps forward are often followed by a few steps back.

We've seen good performances defensively but nothing consistently. The story of the season will unfold over the next three college football weekends. A home date followed by a pair of trips south to the DFW metro.

Obviously the best start would be a statement made on Saturday in Norman. Was the Army performance simply misunderstanding? Probably not. Can Kyler Murray continue the pursuit of a Heisman? Maybe. Can Mike Stoops find the courage to call an aggressive defense? Sheesh. I'm afraid to answer.

You and I will both find out together.
