We're very excited to announce we have made a new hire at SoonerScoop.com as we are bringing Joe DuVall to our team as a full-time member of the staff.
When Josh and I were looking for a new hire, we were looking for someone who could help us work in a lot of different roles with the site.
We’ve constantly tried to provide value for your subscription in other ways than just stories and information. When we hired Eddie, we invested heavily in video and we continue to do that to this day.
We wanted to add more than just photos and stories and we are now the only media outlet, either web or newspaper, to have a full-time video staffer.
Eddie is a part of our family and does an amazing job for us.
Joe is someone that has been in constant contact with us over the years about the possibility of working for SoonerScoop.com. He’s a University of Oklahoma graduate and a big recruitnik who really has a passion for following prospects.
Joe is going to work with Josh to help cover recruiting, provide updates and even help with video/photo when possible.
Joe will also help us with other aspects of our business such as our social media outreach as well as some other things we have planned.
One of things Josh and I have talked about is upping our game from a live coverage standpoint.
We envision getting things to a point where Joe is kind of a central headquarters when we are at big recruiting events, gamedays, high school games, etc.
We want to be able to get audio/video updates out more frequently to you guys from those events.
Joe is going to be a part of helping us to shape that vision moving forward.
We still have a lot of work to do to make some of this happen with more instant coverage, including some new technology purchases, but Joe comes to us after working as a graduate assistant for OU’s in-house media department.
During his time with OU Joe served as the executive producer of OU's student journalism live sports show, SoonerSports Pad, which would air on Fox Sports locally and he most recently produced OU's football halftime and postgame shows for university broadcasts which were shown on Fox Sports networks and through their online channels.
Joe has been setup on the message boards and we will get him through moderator training, so treat him well until we get him up to speed.
That isn’t code for spamming this thread with inappropriate gifs, but we all know that’s going to happen.
So please welcome Joe DuVall as the newest member of the SoonerScoop.com staff.
Thanks guys and welcome aboard Joe!
