Sports Illustrated preseason

I saw this magazine firsthand earlier today. What a joke. Okie State making the cover of SI?? That magazine has lost whatever credibility it had left with me.
This horseshit is based on two things. OSU has Mason Rudolph and James Washington back. OU lost Westbrook, Mixon, and Perine. Never mind that we basically beat the sheep humpers soundly without Westbrook. Hopefully the Sport Illustrated jinx will kick in for OSU. I was 13 years old when Sports Illustrated wrote this article in 1957. "Why Oklahoma is unbeatable". Next week lost to Norte Dame snapping the 47 game win streak. I hate the pukes worse than Uterus.

Ridiculous prediction. The've won what, one big xii title and that was 10 years ago. Other than James Washington, not sure anyone else would start at OU. For sure not on defense plus OU's RBs and WRs will outperform OSUs during 2017.

The last thing I'm concerned about are preseason polls.
If any OU opponent is highly ranked that's fine with me, especially given the lack of respect the Big 12 gets among the other Power 5 conferences.
Let Oklahoma State get all the hype there is. It won't be a factor when Bedlam arrives.

Let's get there (whatever year that lands in) first, then we'll manage the festivities... One year Sockless was there and posted a pic she took & I saw myself and the boys from across the field; I think it was the year Sam shredded all the records against Mizzou

(it was very late in the game and we had moved from the upper decks to almost the first row of tiger seats by then...)

Yep agree...see lots of Sooner fans around town but don't know any personally. This year will take me to Lawrence and then Niorman forvTCU game.

kcstorm06, I've watched great games in Norman. So many I can't pick a favorite. My days of seeing the Sooners live are over. Go watch OU as much as you can. One day you will be glad you did. Enjoy watching OU beating Kansas and who ever we beat in Norman this year while you're there.

I am actually fine with OSU getting all this buzz as the pressute will be on them. Riley can use this to his advantage as most people have OU losing to both the OSUs. I think their wrong as I really believe that OU will win both but likely stumble once in conference to either KSU, TCU or Tx as much as I hate seeing OU lose to the damn Horns.

To many media folks have downgraded OU since Stoops left but I think Riley will prove to everyone he will be a winner and OU will be just fine.

Palm also has OSU winning the conference with only the Pokes getting an invite to the Big 6 Bowls and OU sent to the Alamo. I like seeing all the doubt being displayed by the media and it will be a blast to see them eat their words.

OU....at least since 2000....has done better when expectations are lower.

This is exactly the reason I believe that OU will suprise many of those pundits who seem to think OU has no chance. Most have already penciled in the loss to TOSU and many are very high on the Pokes. In general I think the Big12 is going to surprise many this year.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm not understanding the logic as to how anyone could rank osu over OU. The only logic for anyone doing this is by under valuing OU's offensive potential along over valuing osu's offense and grossly over-value osu's potential to field a decent defense.

What these pundits are doing is dismissing the much greater quality of the kids OU has available to fill it's spots on both offense and defense.

On paper osu, on defense, is going to have to rely on a bunch of unproven underclassmen on defense. OU, on the other hand is capable of starting 8/9 kids who have been starters on it's defense. Obo, Kelly, Parker, Thomas, Motley/Parker, Johnson, Ward, Romar and Gallimore. Plus, we get Bledsoe back after the first four games. The only spot on OU's defense where there isn't any experience is with the Mike LBer. And, I would put up the OU candidates for that vacant Mike spot over osu anyday.

The only thing, osu has over OU on offense is it's wr corp and a single RB in Hill. Otherwise OU's positives are much greater compared to osu. The OU OL has seven kids with lots of starting experience and the rest of the OU OL depth is simply great. I will take Mayfield over any QB in the country. If something happened to Mayfield we would still be good. Rudolph is a good QB, no doubt about that. If he is hurt, the cowgirls have no experience at all behind him. OU may not have any starting RBs but we have some really good ones we can sort through. Same with the WRs.

In my view the OU offense will be as productive as last year. The OU defense will be greatly improved. SI has no logical reason to stick the cowgirls at #4 and over OU.

In spite of the above, I like the idea that osu is ranked up there and is being given lots of pre-season hype. The odds of them living up to the hype is pretty low, in my humble opinion.

My best buddy and I are on a mission to see each Big 12 team play the Sooners in Norman and the Shorthorns in Big D. We will see TCU this year and West Virginia in 2 years and maybe the Shorthorns next year. He has got to experience that fine atmosphere in Dallas.
