Just wanted to give a quick update on Sophia Bordi. Patty Gasso confirmed during today's media availability that Bordi is not currently with the team.
"She's not here on campus," Gasso said. "She went back home. That's something I don't have the privilege to talk about. It's more of a personal situation. So she did not finish the season with us."
Bordi — the No. 5 pitcher in her class — reclassified to join the Sooners a year early. The plan was to redshirt her for her freshman season and focus purely on developing her.
Bordi isn't currently with the team, but I've checked in with a source about her status. I've been told she is "fine" and currently dealing with a situation at home. The source told me "it'll be her story to tell if she wants."
"All is well," the source told me. "This is going to be so much more than what it needs to be."
For what it's worth, Bordi is still listed on the current roster. As of now, I have no reason to believe she won't rejoin the team at some point, whether that's during the postseason or in the offseason. Will obviously let y'all know if something changes.
