T5 Mendes takes the circle and gets Florida in order

Romero gets all three outs.

Towering popup on a 3-1 pitch. And two slow rollers.

Aviu grounds to first. 1 out

Pendley line single to right.

Romero rips it, but the line drive right at 1st doubles off Pendley.

I"m saying this now. I believe it's a big mistake to bring in Lowary now. If we end up tied in extras, then we screw ourselves tomorrow night.

Pinch single to left

Mendes back to left. Lowary enters needing 6 outs

Grounder to 2nd. Runner moves to 2nd. 1 out

Easy grounder to 2nd, which she boots. Arnold reaches with 2 outs

Arnold steals 2nd, but Mendes strikes out.

5-4 Sooners heading to the T7

3 outs for a national championship

Have to admit I haven't been following, but a replay of last nights game was on the tv where I had lunch today. And I'll tell you one thing, Number 8 can bring it.

What happened to Plaino? He stopped giving the rundown after the bottom of six. But then again no need....

Good question. Could it be that Plaino realized that other people have TV's, radio, or internet and can actually follow the games.

Nah...I quite enjoy Plaino's run down - and I was watching the game. It gave me a bit of relief from listening to the drone of the ESPN announcers.

I am not a superstitious man in life generally. But I am a very superstitious sports fan, participant, manager, coach, or player.

I keep doing what I'm doing if things are going well. I change what I'm doing if they're not going well. A little last night, and then tonight, I noticed that if I didn't record the details of what Florida was doing until the half inning was over, then we were doing better. I believe that in the last four innings, when I started doing that, the Gators had one base runner. Total
Two of those innings were three up three down by Lopez and three up three down by Mendes. Let's just say, it worked.

Also with so much traffic on the site tonight, my computer started going really slow, or even trying to lock up.

So I'll go back and post the 7th inning.

But my superstition gets very particular. Punctuation. The same ending to the top half of an inning, which is different from the bottom half.

Getting all of the inning details finished before going to the top of the page to change out the inning and/or score. But when we bat, making sure to change the score when it happens, rather than waiting til the end of the half inning.

That's a whole lot of superstition for a born aginner guy. But I talked to God about it, and he didn't object. I think he laughs about my praying for an out, or a hit or a win.

But I think He's with me, in disliking this bias toward the SEC. Getting FCA involved was a big factor in the Sooner women winning their last 11 of the tournament, after dropping that strange strange lead game of the regional.

"Give honor to whom honor is due." Patty Gasso is due a lot of that.

I didnt get to watch game tonight ( sadly at work) but will get to watch it in the morning even though I know the outcome. Lots of sour grapes from a few UF fans below

Back to back with ESPN giving the trophy to UF before a game was played makes this so much sweeter. This reminds me of OU beating FSU in 2000 when all those talking bozos at ESPN had already given the NC trophy to FSU.

Thanks Plaino. I for one appreciate what you do (no matter if you knock on wood or not ). For the record I consulted with the Lotd last night before Shay hit her homer and asked if He could please end this in our favor because I was tired and needed sleep. Of course I could not sleep before 1:00 anyway. As they say the Lord has a keen sense of humor. Just look at what He has to work with!

Plano ..... I've always appreciated your posts and opinions. Thanks for your dedication and effort.

Cal, I can't tell you how encouraging that is to hear. I have a coupla dozen passions in life, but most of them I've had for decades. Sooner softball is an acquired passion. I've coached a lot, mostly elementary aged guys and I love teaching the fundamentals of the three primary team sports. I learned how to coach baseball from several sources, but a guy I met in my 20s was a huge factor. He was about breaking down the execution of any skill to its smallest mechanics. It changed the way I viewed not just baseball, but all sports.

I see that same sort of devotion of the "little things," in everything about Sooner softball. It makes them a joy to watch. I look at the game differently than most people. I want to see execution. Talent is great and this team has it. But I loved being a guy who could beat a more talented guy by outthinking him, or being poised when he wasn't, or just caring more about doing the details and focusing on team sacrifice. Everything I love about sports, is what Patty Gasso is about. And she transmits that to her players. I believe they care about each other. That parable about David's mighty men just reminded them of that, and that it's their strength and what's necessary to accomplish their goals.

All that to say, that it's an absolute pleasure to hang around here and enjoy that passion with fellow passionates. I have no idea how many are even reading the details of the inning summaries, but I know there are those who still don't have cable, and those who are traveling or working and can't watch. Bonding with them is worth it.

I loved all of OU's four NC's this school year. But I loved this one the most. And rubbing the SEC noses in it, after a ridiculously unfair seeding just makes it sweeter. They overcame. They persevered. They sacrificed. They pursued excellence and great goals. And they won another championship. They did it the right way.

THAT is what sports is supposed to be about. I've never met Patty Gasso, but I know that is who she is and what she's about. Being a fan of such real greatness, and sharing crimson passions makes that absolutely wonderful.

Okay, I'll stop now.

Plaino...

Your Comments fit in well with my Favorite Quote...This line of thinking is one of the things that I miss, most, in my current life...Intelligent Conversation. Thank You for this Very Inspirational Sharing of Yourself...

Senior S, the coach who had the most impact on my life was John Clark, the HoF high school coach in Plano.

Coach Clark preached that everybody does the big things. Champions take care of the little things. It was his way of stressing the need of paying attention to detail.

So when 30 years later, I read that we shouldn't sweat the small stuff .. and it's all small stuff, my heart silently screamed NOOOOO! Excellence is about taking care of the small stuff.

Patty Gasso knows that. She may teach the details differently, but it's why she is a great coach. It helps to have a few studs for sure. But a whole lot of teams do.

This team reflects being coached greatly.

Bud shared that same work ethic. Both he and your Coach Clark were no doubt students of Lombardi Lore...

In that respect I greatly enjoy reading famous quotes by the legendary coach. Doing the basics right was where Lombardi excelled...

Most impressive, to me, was not the success of the teams that Bud put on the field, but the high % rate of success that the men he coached experienced in their lives, AFTER football...

Actually, Coach Clark was a student of Bum Phillips, whom he worked under in Amarillo. Not the antithesis of Lombardi, but close. Lombardi frequently embarrassed players and was likely close to bi polar, but with great intellect.

Coach Clark was was closer to being Landry than Lombardi.

Great game. I saw Superman, Roy Williams with his two daughters before the game. Great to see OU legends out supporting the team
