Aviu HBP to lead off

Penley a rocket to center. 1st and 2nd no outs

Romero Check swing ground out to short. FC. 1st and 3rd

Grounder to 3rd. Went for two and didn't get it. Aviu held.

Weird play at the plate. Bunted 3 feet from the plate. Aviu avoids the tag and scores. If she threw to first, final out. And Aviu could have be called out for out of the baseline. 1-0 Sooners

1st and 2nd.

Arnold grounds to short who misplays it with Hatfield next to her. Bases loaded, 2 down

Mendes grounds into an FC at 2nd, 4 U. 1-0 Sooners heading to B2

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Clean up hitter for Huskies nearly takes Hatfield's glove off in left. That was a shot, for an out.

Number 5 hitter routine fly to Hatfield. 2 out

Swinging K on the rise.

1-0 Sooners after 2

Clifton reaches on a roller that got past the pitcher, but is thrown out on a steal attempt. That dog won't hunt with this catcher and Caleigh. Maybe a missed hit and run. 1 out

Knighten K's on a change up. 2 out.

Aviu flies to a step short of the track in left center.

1-0 Sooners heading to B3

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

On a 3-2 pitch, Wodach makes a diving catch on a foul right at the back stands. Close to a great catch. 1 out

Called strike 3 on a great change up. 2 out

Soft line single to center by 9 hitter for their first base runner. On 1st

Fly to right for the 3rd out.

1-0 Sooners after 3

Mowins is terrible. Leaving 2 many ducks on the pond

Arnold reaches on an E5 on a slap with spin.

I've loved the strike zone tonight. It seems to be getting a little wider.

Mendes pops up the sac bunt attempt. 1 out

first pitch swinging, Clifton lines hard foul out in right. 2 out

Knighten's roller in the 5-6 hole goes for a single. 1st and 2nd,

Aviu drives a single to right center, driving in Arnold and getting Knighten to 3rd. Anybody notice that during the tournament, that Fale's full name has been used by PA announcers?

2-0 Sooners.

Pendley grounds out to 2nd on a nice play by the Huskies.

2-0 Sooners heading to B5

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Nice catch by Arnold in short left. 1 out

Nice backhand by Romero on a grounder down the line. 2 outs

Struck her out on the 2-2 pitch but called ball 3. Then walked her on nine pitches.

3 pitch strike out. I think she pissed Paige off a little.

2-0 Sooners after 5

I turned the game on about 20 minutes ago. I heard the announcers say something about a controversial OU first run. They were also saying on one of the Husky boards that UW got screwed. So did we get a break?

PS the home plate ump is driving me crazy because you don't know if he's calling a strike until the catcher has already thrown the ball back to the pitcher.

T7 Washington brings in a new pitcher to start the 7th Schreyer.

First pitch swinging, Mendes grounds out 1 out

Clifton HBP. Shocking one on, one out

Knighten FC pitcher to 2nd. 2 out.

Aviu FC on first pitch 6-4. 3-1 Sooners heading to B7

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

4-5-6 for Washington

Lead single with no outs.

Fly to center. 1 out, runner on first.

Paige 2 enters with one on and the tying run at the plate.

Called strike 3 on a 3-2 pitch. 2 outs

Grounder to Knighten, 3 Unassisted.

Sooners advance to the semifinals on Sunday. Will play somebody who plays one or two on Saturday and only have to win one of two.

Baylor will play the second game tomorrow against Oregon. The loser is out. The winner will play the last game of the four tomorrow against LSU, who lost to Florida earlier Friday.

OU will play the winner of that game Sunday. There could be two games Sunday. There could be four games Sunday. Depends on if OU and Florida win their first game of the day.

Just saw the replay of the controversial run and it looks like OU did, in fact, catch a break.

The thing about the 3 foot rule, is that your whole body doesn't have to be within three feet. And it's not the baseline. What the umpire explained to the UDub HC was that Aviu had to move wide to not run into the catcher fielding the ball. So she didn't get 3 feet from the baseline. She got 3 feet from the point where she went to, to avoid the fielding contact. Not saying I agree with that. But that was the explanation.

Overall, I think the strike zones have been excellent so far through 6 games. But there have been some rulings at home plate that were curious. That was one of them.

But Fale tried to make sure that her hand was within 3 feet, and if she accomplishes that, then she is within the legal distance. If it had been my call, she'd have been out, but it was a close call.

I still love Fale; clutch last year and this year
She also drove in a run. So she was responsible for 2 of OUr 3.

The big news, is that Gasso's team looked like it was supposed to look: Parker doing her thing. The defense making all the reliable plays, and a few spectacular ones. The only makeable play I don't remember being made was a tough one on the foul up against the fence foul outside third. I thought Romero maybe shoulda made it, but it was a tough one.

But she was really good on several tough plays, and her homer was clutch. I wish she'd have run it out a little. She kinda acted like it was way out. It wasn't. A better left fielder might have actually caught it.

Actually I believe the rule states when the runners feet are outside of 3 feet they are abandoning the running lane. Not that it matters, OU won by 2 anyway. If I was making the call she was out as well

Fale was great. What a great clutch hit with 2 outs. It was great to see Romero hitting the HR & making great fielding plays.
Shay Knighten was flawless in the field and her stretches at 1st base were flawless.

Thank you Patti Gasso not doing the shift when Paige Lowery was pitching.
My heart could not have taken it if left field was wide open vs. this fine hitting Washington team

thanks again Patti.
