One of my major hopes for Coach Riley is that he will place a greater emphasis and zeal on recruiting than we had with Bob Stoops in the later years.

Not sure if Stoops' recruiting dropped off that much "in the later years." He did bring in some pretty good talent that helped win three consecutive Big 12 Championships, made the CFP twice, won the Sugar Bowl and sent several guys to the NFL.

But, I don't think Rilely will have any problems bringing in the skill players, just hope he and the coaches can get the top flight offensive line and defensive players, particularly the defensive linemen and linebackers.

It's my thoughts that Riley has been responsible for the the last two classes w/ the injection of much, much needed energy to the program. There is no doubt that the offensive side of the ball has some very good talent. The defense is what needs to super recruits, but I'm not holding my breath for it to occur. Although, I think OU will continue to get 4 star recruits. I just think a couple of super star defensive players are in great need.

Offensive recruiting is stellar, as is that of defensive backs.
Linebackers and interior defensive linemen recruiting must improve and with 5 more openings on the 2018 commitment list....now would be a good time to start if it's not too late either among the high school ranks or the JUCO ranks.
FWIW, 3-star DT Jordan Kelley out of Tulsa has some good potential.

This year we are severely lacking on LB's and DB's. This just might be the best ever DB's coming out of the state of Texas and we have missed on almost everyone. I would like to see us add a DT, I like our DE recruits, Oline, RB and WR. Not to happy with getting our 4th option at QB but Rising kind of screwed that up.

We need a few stud LB's and at least one safety.

Actually, Thibs is killing it on the DL recruiting this year with Perkins and the 3 in-state guys. Kish remains the worst recruiter and coach on staff and it's not close. Our ILB recruiting is beyond pathetic. Cooks needs to land a good safety commit to finish off this class, too. Other than that, we are in great shape on the recruiting front.

Perkins, Tatum and Redmond are listed as defensive ENDS, not tackles. Unless one or two can move to the interior, there is only one DT in Kelley.
Linebacking is priority one right now and I don't see OU getting any more unless it's a plan B type.

How do you know this? There's still several excellent LB's out there and really what
they're looking for is one inside LB. I think you're guessing

LB prospects

aTm commit Deshawn White, I think we have a 50/50 chance

UT commit Ayodel Adeoye, I think we have a 40% chance to flip

Vandi commit Alston Orji, I like our chances here, 70% chance

Nick Bonito 50/50

Safeties

I think Texass got #1, #3 and #5 best rated safeties this year

tOSU commit Woobry, I think he ends up at USC 10% chance we get him

aTm commit ONiel, maybe a 30% chance.

tOSU commit Proctor, He's an Oklahoma guy but hasn't wavered on his commitment, 10% chance

Cooks, Kish and Stoops are really stinking it up recruiting.
