What year did OU decided to deemphasize recruiting in Texas and focus more on national recruiting?
Also is there a correlation in that time where it seems like OU thinks that because it is OU that just showing up and rolling their helmet out there will guarantee victory? Similar to how an OU offer should be good enough to stand alone and get a commitment without dogged recruiting.
It just seems to me that Coach Stoops struck gold early in his coaching hires, but in the theme of losing the aggressiveness in recruiting and on the field it hit in some of his hiring’s too.
So he has been aggressive in coaching hiring the last 3 years and I see the aggression back in recruiting especially in the 2017 offers.
It seems like Saban and Meyers understand fully what Coach Switzer knew oh so well, that it’s about the Jimmy’s and the Joes not the X’s & the O’s! Those two recruit nonstop even though they are at two Blue Blood schools and it shows.
