o [Dolphins] Wide receiver Kenny Stills and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips both returned to practice after sitting out last week because of an ankle injury.
o Tannehill threw a beautiful deep touchdown pass to Kenny Stills in the corner of the end zone.
[Titans] LEADING TACKLER: Fourth-year veteran defensive back Demontre Hurst led the team with seven tackles against the Steelers.
[Giants] WR STERLING SHEPARD: The new father had a game-high seven catches for 78 yards against the Jets, including a 30-yarder as part of a big night for the deep passing game. Shepard has carried his production over to practices, and vice versa. Entering the all-important third season for a receiver, Shepard has looked sharp and willing to make the tough catch. He scattered a handful of them throughout today’s practice, including a red-zone touchdown from Manning.
“Yeah, he had some production and, again, a gritty guy. We can play him in the slot, we can play him outside,” Shurmur said. “He gets involved in the run blocking patterns. I really like what I’ve seen from him.”
[Cards] GRESHAM, GOLDEN AND PUP
Tight end Jermaine Gresham (Achilles) and linebacker Markus Golden (knee) remain on the physically-unable-to-perform list, and time is running out for them to come off before the regular season.
If one or both remain on the PUP list after final cuts, it will save the Cardinals the roster spot, but that player must miss at least the first six weeks of the season.
“It’s going to be close,” Wilks said. “The conversations we’ve had, they are progressing, so as we finish up next week they are going to be right there on the cusp.”
o [Rams HC] McVay said that it is likely that rookie linebacker Obo Okoronkwo will remain on the physically unable to perform list past the league’s Sept. 4 deadline to set a 53-man roster.
o If Okoronkwo is not removed from PUP by the deadline, he will be ineligible for the first six weeks of the season.
o Okoronkwo was the Rams’ fifth pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, and is currently missing time due to recovery from foot surgery.
