I have to say that, in all my years of watching Sooner sports, I've never seen any OU team that is as consistently excellent and well coached as our softball team. Obviously, the credit for that goes to Patty Gasso.
They may not always win--although they've obviously done their share of that--but they always play the game (to use an overused term) the "right" way. They have consistently great talent on their team and they play to their talent level. They ALWAYS do the little things well, they play smart, and they don't beat themselves. While they justifiably and appropriately celebrate their team's successes, they don't do the things to say "look at me" and they never try to show up or belittle their opponents. The other thing I notice is that players that come into Gasso's progam, no matter how talented they were as prep players, always noticeably improve under her tutelage.
For all the attention our football team gets, there's no doubt in my mind that we'd have a few more national championships if our gridders could've always displayed the grit, preparation, and intelligence our softballers show us every time they come onto the field.
Whether you watch softball our not, or girls make us proud and I hope I didn't jinx them by the bouquets I threw them in this post 8^)
