Were you happy with a national championship? Did you think that all we needed with everyone coming back was some pitching depth, a solid #2 pitcher?

Paige Lowary, LHP, U. Missouri, is transferring to OU. She was the ace pitcher for a team that made it to the Super-Regionals, and she beat Alabama at Alabama, Tennessee at Tennessee, Mississippi at Mississippi, Kentucky at Kentucky, and Mississippi State at Mississippi State.

Typically, with softball, if you have a release, you can play immediately. Shelby Pendley played at Arizona one year and at OU the next. Kelsey Stevens pitched at Stanford one year and at OU the next. I expect that Paige and Paige will start two-thirds of the early games with Olmos and Lopez getting a shot in a third of the games. Then, we will see how everyone fares.

Paige Parker just won a national title.
Paige Lowary was just on the USA Elite team that played in July. She was among the better pitchers in the SEC, especially after she healed from being hit with a line drive in the face. That affected her control in February and March, part of April. She finished strong.

wasn't she the one that took a line drive to her face her freshman year? I think she is the one that I saw pitch in the playoffs....she looked good on the mound and was at least then wearing some sort of face/head protection while pitching.

Yep, she took a shot to the face.
Took her a bit to regain her form of course.
Man, a lot of the Mizzou fans are pissed that the turmoil with the coach and the AD caused her defection to OU.
Rightly so.
To the winner goes the spoils.

I didn't see anything in the article about it so I've gotta ask; is she subject to the usual ncaa bs regarding sitting out a year before gaining eligibility to play at another school ?

It is a much different process than what we have with football and men's basketball.

A player that wants to transfer has to get an ok from her school in order to contact other schools and find a school that will take her. She is immediately eligible to play as long as she is in compliance with the NCAA academic eligibility rules at her new school. There is no loss of eligibility, but the player transferring can't receive a scholarship for the 1st academic year at the new school.

So, in this girls case, as long as her classes transfer from Mizzou to OU and she is academically eligible under NCAA rules then she is good to go for the coming season, but without a scholarship so she has to pay her own way.

Thanks Roy.
I was wondering about all that.
