Paige Parker started and gave up one base runner in four innings, on a third inning double. Nicole Mendes pitched the fifth and allowed a walk. In a commentary on the poor softball play by Tech, the game ended with them trying to steal second base, down TWELVE in the last inning and needing five runs to keep the game going.
The Sooners hit three homers and rolled, after scoring first in the third inning.
OU got three in the third on Shay Knighten's three run homer.
Macey Hatfield had two hits in the fourth. She led off the inning with a home run.and ended the scoring with a one out infield bases loaded single. Nine of the first ten Sooners to bat in the inning reached base on seven hits, a walk and one error on Tech. Hatfield's homer was the only extra base hit of the inning. Six scored to put OU in run rule territory.
Then Romero finished it off with another three run homer in T5.
Game three of the series is at noon Sunday.
OSU lost a double header yesterday to Baylor, but won the final game of the series today. So OU is 13-1 in the conference. Baylor and OSU are both 12-3. OU has a split Bedlam series next week/weekend to end the regular season. Baylor has a split series to finish off with the first game in Waco and the last two in Austin.
Then the conference renews the post season conference tournament in OKC the following weekend.
