Yesterday, Paige shut out Baylor on five singles. OU only had seven hits, but three were home runs:
---a solo shot by Romero to lead off the third
---a two=run shot to right by Miller in the fourth
---a two-run shot pinch hit by Nirschl in the fifth

OU won 5-0 over Stearns.

Paige and Stearns both pitched seven scoreless innings with Paige giving up four singles and no walks. Stearns gave up three singles, all to Shay Knighten, walked a couple, and hit one. So, they went into extra innings.

Fale Aviu (freshman) led off the eighth with a pinch hit single up the middle, replaced at first by Arnold for whom she had pinch hit. Miller executed the perfect sacrifice bunt, but she beat it out, something that is becoming routine. Romero has been hitting so well that they gave her a shot at bringing the runs home. But, she popped up to shallow left. Shay, then, grounded to short. But, the shortstop couldn't pick it up, and the error loaded the bases.

Kady Self, who had struck out the time before, launched a long one way over the left field wall for a grand slam. Paige went on the shut them out, 4-0 by getting three outs in the bottom of the eighth.

Nine runs in the series, all on home runs.

OU has now passed Baylor in the conference standings. Tech and OU are now both 5-1.

sounds like they are getting better since I saw them at the Mary Nutter classic out here in Feb. they didn't look good at that tourney!

When you have a lineup that features:

SP soph Paige Parker
C soph Lea Wodach
1B FR Shay Knighten
2B FR Caleigh Clifton
3B FR Sydney Romero
SS soph Kelsey Arnold
CF soph Nicole Pendley
DP or OF FR Fale Aviu

That's a lot of youth that has had to develop in a hurry.

Paige didn't have her best stuff today, and she had to win on determination, 7-4. She did pitch every pitch of the series for OU, getting all three wins against a team ranked #10 in the rpi (we are #12) on their home field.

We had a different heroine every game. Today, it was Pendley who hit the three run home run that brought us back from 2-3 to give us the lead,, 5-3. Then, in the seventh, after Aviu doubled in Clifton, she singled home Aviu to give us a 7-4 win. She hasn't been doing all that well, and she wasn't the one that I would have thought would be giving us four runs batted in.

It made the standings:
6-1 OU
4-2 Tech
5-3 Baylor
3-4 OSU
2-3 Texas
1-2 Kansas
0-6 Iowa State

This coming weekend:
Texas Tech at Kansas
Texas at Oklahoma
Baylor at Oklahoma State
