SOFTBALL: NCAA NORMAL REGIONAL TOURNAMENT

Norman Regional – May 18-20 at Norman, Oklahoma

Missouri (28-27) vs. Tulsa (33-23)

Boston U. (39-18) vs. No. 4 seed Oklahoma* (50-3)
(Friday @ 6 pm)

Just a few notes here.
  • Missouri only going 6-17 in SEC play and 28-27 overall while missing the SEC tournament can only enhance the SEC myth. However Missouri did challenge themselves in OOC and went 21-10 against 11 NCAA qualifiers this season. Among the noted teams they played were Oregon, Oklahoma St (2 ), Oregon State, USF (2), Wisconsin, BYU, Arizona, UCLA and conference champ Drake. This team may have struggled in the SEC but its not a team that Oklahoma can take for granted.
  • Boston and Tulsa included in the Norman regional may have a claim to being the toughest regional among all the others. I think Oklahoma wins the regional but I think some games are going to be nail biters.
  • If Oklahoma wins the regional they would host the Arkansas regional bracket winner which could set up another match-up against in state rival OSU. Arkansas will have a tough task ahead of them to hold serve in Fayetteville as that bracket also includes Wichita St and DePaul.
My PIcks for the 16 Regionals. (This is all in fun )

Eugene - Oregon (Only South Carolina regional is easier path)
Lexington - Michigan ( Upsets Kentucky)
Columbus - S Carolina ( I think the Gamecocks have the easiest regional of the tournament)
Tempe - Arizona State ( Long Beach could surprise)
Seattle - Washington
Tuscaloosa - Alabama ( Wisconsin may be only real threat to that regional to oust Bama )
Fayetteville - DePaul ( Just not sold on Arkansas. OOC opp combined record at .508 )
Norman - Oklahoma ( If they play like they can they win and advance )
Los Angeles - UCLA
Tucson - Arizona
Baton Rouge - LSU
Tallahassee - Florida State ( Auburn more than capable of knocking off FSU )
Athens - Georgia
Knoxville - Tennessee
College Station - Baylor ( Think they send Aggies packing when all is said and done )
Gainsville - Florida

SUPER REGIONALS (Who I think wins and advances to CWS in red )

Alabama - Washington
DePaul - Oklahoma
Tennessee
- Georgia
Baylor - Florida
Michigan - Oregon
South Carolina - Arizona State
Arizona - UCLA
LSU - Florida State
