1. Kyler Murray. OMG. Has any team ever had back to back QBs of this quality? And he just keeps getting better. The presence of mind on that fumble. Speed. The arm. Field awareness. The whole package. And to think the position worried me coming in to the season.
2. Receivers. Have to agree w DMack this looking like best group since at least early 00s. Maybe beyond. And that is saying something. Speed. Hands. Route discipline. Just outstanding.
3. Sermon/Brooks combo at running back starting to gel. Anderson irreplaceable but those two starting to separate. That one Sermon run to the goal line was AD like. Monster run. And Brooks showed lot of open field ability. They compliment each other. O line run blocking has to improve early but thinking we will b fine at RB.
4. O line. A for pass blocking / B- for run. Admittedly think Baylor played to stop run early (foolishly) but would like to see backs have bit more to work w early in game regardless. Plus Baylor got tired as game went on although that admittedly frequently happens with Sermon like backs too. Not really complaint re O line. Just would would like to see more run help. Thought entire O played extremely well.
5. And then the D. Army was sort of throw out game bc of quirky offense. This one not tho. Absent Tre Brown count me disappointed. Was hoping to see more line control, good QB pressure, attacking style, and better tackling. Didn’t see any of above on consistent basis.
6. Secondary played not too badly I thought given that Baylor receivers are actually quite good but keep asking self if my bar has gotten too low and is skewing thinking. Overall we have got to do better on D if want to maintain realistic playoff shot which will be shame if don’t given these weapons on O.
7. Needs to start next week too. Texas O questionable but D pretty solid. Ehlinger has trouble when pressured but are we capable of that. Not sure from what have seen so far. Their D too strong to roll dice on winning 50-40. Might b able to. Might not. Too much pressure on our O tho. Texas playing w more confidence. D needs to step up next week big time. We will see.
