So when will we know?

I hope soon. Poor Baker, when he got injured at Texas Tech, and returned he did not get his starting qb job back. I hope he was not having thoughts, he looked terrified on the sideline.

I laughed out loud when I read this. Baker isn't in danger of losing his job on this team with Trevor Knight or Cody Thomas as our only choices. He just needs to get an all clear. He may not get to practice this week so that could affect his play Saturday if he is cleared. Regardless, he will be better than Trevor.

Oh hell yes. After the hit he was still amazing. Did anyone question yourself when he was announced the starter for OU this year?

I chucked too. Baker could have an arm amputated and still be the best QB we have.

Yeah, I was indifferent, because I thought the additional WRs, RBs, and new offense would help Knight more than anything. Then the Mayfield Renaissance took place and there is no comparison.

Yes. I didn't think his stats at Texas Tech were very good against better opponents and that worried me, which is why I didn't expect more than around a 8-5 season. And that's what we would've had except for Baker Mayfield playing as he has. Nobody dreamed he would be this fricking good. This is like John Huarte in 1964 coming out of nowhere to win the Heisman at Notre Dame. Too bad Baker got hurt Saturday night. His bid for the Heisman is over. Henry will run away with it. But Baker is the country's MVP as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think there is any way Bob will make it known before next Saturday. Could be wrong about that. Bob is so close to the vest about injuries. And I don't think they can know for sure.

He said in the post game that they didn't know about Baker's symptoms until halftime. He told them he was fine and answered their typical head injury questions. But at the half, he told one of the medical people that he had a little headache and they took his helmet away.

He will have to go through concussion protocol and they aren't going to know quickly. If he doesn't have a headache Monday, but does on Wednesday, then it could be a problem, even if all he has is a sinus headache.

I don't think we'll know before Friday, because I don't know if they'll know til then. But my guess is that even if they know, one way or another we won't. And even if Bob says one way or another, who would really trust what he'd say about a player's injury?

When will we know the status of Mayfield?
NCAA requires 5 different qualifying levels of activity followed by a test which are all measured against the results of a baseline test given at the beginning of the season. Sounds like several can be accomplished in a day, but the last is a full contact practice.

OUr quarterbacks don't do a full contact practice. I guess if everybody else is having contact, that would be enough. Don't they have to be symptom free for like 48 hours?
