Should OU defeat all B12 opponents by 21+ most years?

OKLAHOMA and tu are the only teams who field teams with Top 10 recruiting classes. Some years an Oswho or TCU do okay, but most of the teams don't recruit very well.

Based off the potential of the talent OU has, shouldn't they dominate the other teams more?

I wonder if OUr players aren't reaching their full potential because of the inferior players they compete against.


So, when they make it to the CFP, they finaly play a team with equal or greater talent and OUr players aren't prepared as they thought they were.

There is far too much emphasis placed on recruiting and not enough on player development. It's not as easy as saying we recruit better therefore we should be better. TCU fields a pretty good defense year in and year out with 2 and 3 star players. Texas, on the other hand, recruited very well and could not compete on the field (lost to Kansas with 5 star players). I do not agree with your inferior player we compete against comment. Think back to Iowa State and the job Matt Campbell has done there.

Until OU recruits defensive talent as well as it recruits offensive talent, dominating opponents more is not happening and neither is a national championship.

On paper, OU should win most of their conference games handily. However, texass, Baylor and ISU appear to be games that will give OU a tough time. Expect someone else, like a KU or WVU to jump up and put a good scare into the Sooners this season.

Four straight Big 12 Championships and made the playoffs 3 out of the last four years = domination.

I get it, they haven’t advanced past the first round, but there still in the dance. We have a young, up and coming Coach learning lessons every year. It didn’t happen overnight for Dabo and Clemson, but it did happen. Our team no longer has a poison in the locker room and on the defensive side of the ball.

We will get better on the defense, and our coach will continue to learn. Oklahoma has been the definition of domination in the Big 12 since the conference’s inception and has been relevant on the national championship scene. I believe we are headed in the right direction and Coach Riley is the man for the job.

Riley has maintained the program at a high level and while I don't expect a championship every year, the "drought" since 2000 has made me very thirsty. At age 70, there's a sense of urgency for me in this matter.

I feel you brotha, and agree. This past 2 years have been tough, as I think any kind of a substantial defensive system could have ended with at least one or two MNC. Whenever I am down about the program in general or a specific loss, I try to remember the 90’s; until Coach Stoops arrived. That and I have a wonderful wife who puts up with me when we are down 4 td’s to Bama .

When you're dealing with 18-22 year old kids, the only expectation one should have is to expect to be surprised, flummoxed, exasperated, occasionally overjoyed, but rarely satisfied.

I think defensive line play is not prepared due to competition level being low, hopefully the change in style of defensive line play compensates for that....the Oline faces tougher competition in the CFp also but generally does well enough....we have been decimated at RB for the last several years, injury after injury such that our top RB s do not make the CFP or we use one or two guys too much.....

To be honest if we had tougher. competition we would not make it to the CFP we are always the last team in.....

I think there is value in taking a few scrimmages like the SEC does, it let’s you have a few dress rehearsals to fine tune technique and build confidence....

We've completed two years w/ Riley as HC. Two years. In that short time he has two Heisman QBs, two playoff appearances, fired a Stoops, and just landed the #1 recruit in the country. Simply put... he's done more in two years than most coaches do in a life time.

OU is well under way to #8.

Coaching certainly played a part with the defense, but we've had a dearth of talent on that side of the ball at every position for some time now. You can get away with a little of that at, maybe, one position group by compensating with the other two. BUT, when you don't have a strength anywhere, you're cooked. And that's been us.
