I've certainly seen every game. I went the Texas game. I've read the majority of the threads in this forum since the game. No one seems to have made this point. In my opinion, an important factor in that game and something I have seen since the Akron game is that Mayfield sees pressure coming, drops his eyes and tries to find a gap to run through. He does not have a receiver's speed like Heard, Boykin and some others. When it is third and long when he attempts this, he has rarely picked up the necessary yardage. The effect is that the opponent is never penalized for blitzing and therefore is not deterred from doing so. He is a very good quarterback in my opinion, but I feel he needs to be told to try to stand in longer and hit the uncovered receiver. If not, we will continue to have very uneven offensive games due to loss yardage plays and a low percentage of third down conversions. Thanks in advance for your comments.
