Season Ticket Holders?

Did you get a notice from OU outlining the minimum donation requirements per seat per location that progressively increases for 2016, 2017 & 2018? There is an explanation concerning not meeting the minimum requirements will necessitate OU to relocate to a section that meets the donation. If the donation does not meet the minimum amount at the lowest seating plan then losing season ticket holder status is likely. The notice also included an explanation about OU season ticket holder donor amounts is much lower than a few selected schools. I'm not at risk because I have donated more than the 2018 requirement for the last few years. I am seriously considering reducing my donation to meet the minimum requirement. OU's tactics to fatten their coffers does not set well with me. I suspect the root cause is all the fat cat oil and gas donors have reduced their pledges.

Hmmm. I'm not a season ticket holder, but with the Oil & Gas economy like it is, I can see the potential for this to backfire.

Obviously the OU Expansion Plan was put in place before the Oil Bust and equally apparent is that because of the Bust, the funding of the very ambitious plan is going to be much more difficult...

I've been offered a 'Relocation Consultant'...I've had 4 on the 50 for over 50 years, and I'm NOT Relocating...My decision is whether or not to be 'Blackmailed' into upping my ante, or opting out. My intention is to 'play their game', this year, then cross the next section of that bridge in 2017...

The location of my seats has been threatened from three different angles. The first threat was eliminated when they down sized the plan. My seats (under the old plan) would have become room for the press. Then there is this donation thing looming. And third, the marking of bench seats from 16" to 18" wide so that wide-loads can squeeze in. It appears that I'd be bumped upstairs just by that alone. And I am not going upstairs. I love my Sooners. But I too hate the plan. I think 21 years is enough. I was on the edge of giving up my seats anyway, but I think this solidifies it.

Probably what bothers me the most is... Sooner Football needs new fans. The average teen can't afford to take a date or a buddy to a game anymore. It is becoming The NFL Junior.
