UPDATE: 2:56p - I'll be honest, I'm in a state of shock at the stuff I'm hearing.

"Clean sweep" has come up in regard to this weekend and though I'm not trying to get your hopes too high, it's pretty hard based on what I'm hearing mixed with the kidz bop playing in the background throughout my house.

But, now...I'm in on Jordan Renaud, joining my guy @Nick Harris from long ago.

I can honestly tell you, I've never seen anything like what I'm hearing, it's all so matter of fact. And yes, THIS is how you get to a top 5 class.

OH, and a big one you all are going to like?

David Hicks is NOT visiting A&M this weekend and is currently still in Norman.

UPDATE: 2:23p - OK guys, have heard enough...

I've got a new forecast in for a Rivals100 defender...

And I won't be surprised if we hear something soon.

UPDATE: 1:14p - Alright guys, I've now powerwashed just about everything that won't disintegrate under water pressure have cleared the back patio of anything that might faintly resemble dirt...

NOW, we wait...

But I assume that isn't the update you were looking for?

Alright, well I'll start with one of the first responses to that BEAUTIFUL BIT OF NOTES written this morning...David Hicks.

Yes, there are rumors from more than one place that he either committed or came close to it last night.

I've not yet spoken to David about the chatter but I did speak to his father, David Sr. who was not with his son but says that no commitment has happened.

"We'd all have to be together to make that kind of decision and I'm not there and neither is his mother," Hicks Sr. said.

Now as to whether something could happen? I'm not refuting that as there is a LOT of smoke that the Sooners did something notable here. Let's just play wait and see but I will say, without doubt, that OU made a huge move last night and I think nationally people are starting to realize they may be the favorite.

Next, I want to address the talk of Colton Vasek, you can see my notes below...but what I want to tell you is there are people that will swear to me I'm DEAD WRONG on this and that this guy's situation is not so different from what I just outlined for Hicks above.

This is the second, potential, miracle that the Sooners may have pulled off last night.

A) Hicks committing so early - again, I think if anything it was a wink and a nod but I've not heard enough to believe there is anything ready for public action. I am, however, watching closely if he'll be visiting A&M today.

B) Vasek having OU jump Texas/Oregon.

Let's see if they come to pass but the fact that it's even being talked about is...NUTS to me and I'll fully own I was just flat out wrong on Vasek - so long as you all that told me I was living in a pipe dream on Hicks will do the same, haha.

I've heard nothing but confidence in regard to the three defensive back offers who were on campus and I won't be surprised at all if maybe there was some news in the not so distant future as one, I'll leave his name out for the time being, admitted he needs to talk with his parents some.

"It's was great, definitely was something to talk to my parents about. They were (on vacation) and couldn't meet the staff. Nothing (to report) now though," the player said.

And for talk that Oklahoma's defensive class, that currently has seven public commitments, may have nearly doubled last night?

"We'll see."

The one guy that I've not heard much talk on is Tyler (Texas) Legacy Rivals250 defensive end Jordan Renaud but one commitment on hand made it clear Oklahoma was working hard on him.

"He was a guy we are working (hard) on," Samuel Omosigho said.

ORIGINAL: OK guys, in a sad bit of news...I will have five girls under the age of nine sleeping at my house tonight...so, please accept that no matter what happens today, you've won compared to your fearless recruiting friend.

Beyond that, let's talk a little bit about the rumors that are going around...

First, from the Scoop's visitor list it does sound as though there were two changes - the removal of Tausilii Akana and addition of Colton Vasek. I've not fully confirmed either but in talking to enough people it sounds like those things are safe to assume.

With Akana, I don't have a ton to report other than it doesn't do much to change my opinion on where things stand as Oklahoma is still probably the favorite and even if that's too aggressive, OU is right there with any school on his list.

Vasek, I feel like Oklahoma is the cockroach that just won't die in his recruiting. I've talked to plenty of good sources who just swear this is down to Oregon and Texas but the more I've talked the more nuance I pick up. It sounds as though Vasek's family absolutely loves the coaching staff at Oklahoma but the idea of Colton playing at Oklahoma is something of a tough pill to swallow. I'm just not sure that can be overcome but there's no question that there is a lot of respect for Oklahoma to the point that one source told me 'if Venables was still at Clemson, he might already be committed'. But still, I'm just not sure Oklahoma can overcome being...well, Oklahoma.

Beyond that, I'm told that the 'Party at the Palace' went incredibly well and the Sooners hit some incredibly strong notes, particularly in the secondary.

I'm told that the Sooners really hit some high notes with each of these guys and I think Oklahoma built on their lead with each of Johnson and Vickers and one source mentioned that Yaites could be trending toward increasingly likely for the Sooners.

"I think the future pass defense got better tonight," a source said.

The timing of any movement, is a bit more unclear. Johnson has felt like 'when, not if' for year(s) now so...let's see. Vickers has his announcement date and with Yaites we'll have to see how he feels as a little time passes from his visit.

Another huge piece of that puzzle is, obviously, Yaites' teammate at Denton (Texas) Guyer Rivals100 safety Peyton Bowen.

I'm told that Bowen, again, really enjoyed himself and the Sooners continue to have reason for optimism even if he's pretty cautious about letting too much get out.

I will also say, it seems that the plan has changed and that Bowen, and his brother, 2024 cornerback offer Eli Bowen, will be visiting Texas A&M today contrary to Scoop's report yesterday morning.

If you made me bet at this point, especially if Oklahoma can flip Yaites, I'd bet he's more likely to have a future in the SEC than as an independent but it's far from sure as he's a tricky guy to read too much from.

Finally (for now), one of the more interesting things that came out of the night was potential five-star defensive lineman David Stone's family hitting up the event sans Stone himself.

As we've talked about Stone is pretty gung-ho about Oklahoma but there are some in his family that need some convincing so his family being there to hear the Sooners message and get a feel for Brent Venables, Todd Bates, and company is a seemingly small thing that could be huge for Oklahoma down the road.
