fortworth4ou passed away on September 18 at age 66.
Born in Baltimore in 1953, he was an avid OU fan and Baltimore Oriole fan, Air Force vet, Masters Degree from Southern Illinois, was teacher of the year twice at Glen Park Elementary and spent his retirement tutoring.
I have lost another great friend.

Yep Gary I think he was around before me too, been here since 2004, dang has it been that long? Not many around from back then anymore be it passing away or just moved on to another board.

It’s always sad to learn that a Sooner has passed. Even though your only connection is via social media. I joined the board in 2004 and followed so many folks before posting my first about 2012 or so. Many great Sooner fans have been lost during that time. RIP fortworth4ou.

I only knew Alan (fortworth4ou) from the message board here and the many lengthy phone conversations with discussions of OU football, baseball, politics and religion. We had a good friendship, even though we never met face to face.
He told me two years ago that he did not expect to live too many more years and said he had no misgivings about his life....even after having his leg amputated along with coping with many other physical issues....and he had no fear of dying because of his religious beliefs.
One of the nicest guys I ever knew, even from a 1,500 mile distance.
I tried to call him earlier this evening and was given a recording that said his number was no longer in use. I assumed the worse and found his obituary and read his story and was able to see his picture.

Oh man, that's a blow. He and I had a ton of back and forth emails back in the day. He was always a good guy and fair. A great Sooner fan that will be missed.

When I didn't see him starting official game threads this season, I knew something must be wrong. RIP fortworth4ou. I know you are doing just that.

My favorite memories of him were when he and I camped out daily on the Husker board (late Solich / Callahan days). The Huskers there mostly tolerated us, but Alkohusker tried everything he could to get us banned. Forthworth always responded with kindness and the right words... and drove Alko nuts.

I'm 10 years behind you. Aside from losing my brother at 52, I'm not yet seeing the loss of close friends family - Mother and M-I-L still alive and going strong.
But, every year I put behind me, I can "see" it coming.
We have to savor every day.

Such sad news. I’ve had my share of bug tussles w/ FtWorth on this board but I always thought he was a great fan. The past couple of years we seemed to share some of the same thoughts and our views of fandom finally intertwined. I remember his retorts were very long, very detailed. He was well written and loved his Sooners. RIP Ft. Worth

RIP, Sir. I remember the name, but don't remember much about him, which is probably an indication that his posts were level-headed and generally non-controversial.

Totally forgot about Alpo until now, but yeah, sooner fans used to give him fits.

So sorry to hear this sad news. FW4OU was a great fan and one of my favorites for many years on this board. I don't think I ever had a cross word with him and he was always level headed had a kill-you-with-kindness approach when dealing with boneheads (Alkohusker is a perfect reference!). May God bless and protect his soul.

Wow such a sad thread to come to this morning. I got to meet up with Allen a couple years ago and we watched a Bedlam game together. Great guy!! Never met up with with again sadly, though I would hear from him from time to time. Had no idea he wasn't doing very well lately. I hadn't heard from him in quit a while I should have reached out to him.

The year that AZ's father passed away this song came out by Diamond Rio...no matter who we have lost, it pretty much sums it up. I would tear up every time it came on the radio...still do. ❤
