Curiosity got to me after I posted "wins". What about "points"? So this is every game since 1900. The Y axis is points in that ONE game held on the X axis year).
I think the interesting thing here are the trend-lines. Helped by some recent sweet blowout victories (circled)... and the evolution of football in general, we have a nice upward slope. Though, look at UT in the early years. They were scoring 30 a game already! We were lucky to get A touchdown.
If we could have done a better job defensively in recent years (since 2005, we've given up: 45, 45, 40, 36, 28, etc.), UT would be darn near flat. Anyway, this is a good story. Prior to WWII, we were clearly behind UT on the gridiron.
