UPDATE WED 3:03p - OK guys, have been talking to people since early this morning, including a convo with Roberts himself, and it seems that it's about as we stated in our final report last night - Roberts committed to Diron Reynolds but that commitment is entirely contingent on his ability to pass his two courses this summer - English 200 and a history course.

Roberts has already started the courses and he tells me that he feels more than confident that he'll be fine. He says he currently has a 'B' in each course and really only needs to pass to be eligible to be at Oklahoma.

The courses will end on July 17 and I think he'll report quickly thereafter if all goes as hoped.

So again Oklahoma could be landing a big-time talent, that Roberts says is expected to work at defensive end upon his arrival in Norman.

We're going to mark this as a commitment but just know that if he can't get through these two courses there is a chance that offer won't exist for 2016.

And according to Roberts, to answer a question many of you have had, he is a three for two prospect.

UPDATE:
OK have now had a chance to speak with Roberts who says that he informed Diron Reynolds of his decision earlier today but that he had been high on the Sooners ever since he and Maurice Chandler visited in early April.

"I already knew I was going to OU (before I committed today)," Roberts said. "After I took my visit and met coach Reynolds I was pretty much a 'boomer sooner'."

Roberts is still finishing some course work at NEO (two summer classes) and hopes to report to Norman in late July. This course work is, in all likelihood, what has kept you all from seeing the 'Boom' tweets tonight as I'm guessing things are still being clarified. In fact at the time of his commitment Reynolds left no doubt about where he wants Roberts to be focused.

"He said that he was very excited for me to get up there and to finish these two summer classes strong," Roberts explained.

Roberts clearly committed to Reynolds and clearly the Sooners would like to take him but his class work has tripped him up before and I'm going to be interested to see what I hear tomorrow in regard to how Oklahoma is looking at this pledge.

ORIGINAL: We're trying to check all information out on the reported (by TFB) commitment of Miami (Okla.) Northeastern Oklahoma A&M defensive end Austin Roberts. We've got no doubt that he has told Oklahoma he is coming but, as always, we want to get it straight from him and we also want to check a bit more of the situation as some folks at NEO were unsure of how his grades were going to play out this summer.

So we're going to check back on that and do a bit more looking around but there is a report out that Oklahoma has landed a 2015 junior college prospect with absolute loads of upside.
