QB: Kyler Murray - 86 - He was outstanding but turnovers are becoming more and more an isue.
RB: Trey Sermon - 74 - Wasn't bad was just not 'the guy' tonight.
HB: Jeremiah Hall - 82 - Thought he was good for what little I saw.
TE: Carson Meier - 81 - Penalty was nearly horrific but was great in run blocking.
WR: Marquise Brown - 95 - Man alive, this guy was everywhere OU needed him to be.
WR: Cedarian Lamb - 86 - Bad drop early but made some big catches, including the biggest one.
LT: Bobby Evans - 90 - Strong one here but West Virginia didn't challenge much outside.
LG: Ben Powers - 88 - Thought I saw a few misses inside but I could be off.
C: Creed Humphrey - 96 - I didn't hear Kenny Bigelow's name called all night.
RG: Dru Samia - 91 - Guy has saved the best ball of his career for the end.
RT: Cody Ford - 92 - Was crushing people off that right side.
Offensive Average: 87.5 (962)
DEFENSE:
DE: Kenneth Mann - 71 - Had a hand in Bolton's big touchdown, solid in run but not much else.
DT: Neville Gallimore - 84 - Run defense clearly had a big boost from him.
DT: Amani Bledsoe - 83 - Thought he played really well.
DE: Ronnie Perkins - 77 - Again had a hand in a huge play.
LB: Caleb Kelly - 84 - His coverage issue, other than not getting hands on the slot, weren't on him. Lot of great tackling - how often can you say that?
LB: Kenneth Murray - 70 - Wasn't as bad as some will believe but was just ok, tracked well from the backside on several occasions.
LB: Curtis Bolton - 81 - Huge play, tackled well when I saw him.
CB: Tre Brown - 86 - Did an outstanding job, may have been OU's most consistent defender.
CB: Tre Norwood - 70 - I thought he actually was ok for the most part.
S: Robert Barnes- 55 - Was REAL up and down with his day.
S: Brendan Radley-Hiles - 10 - Burn this tape young man, BUT DO NOT FIDO.
Defensive Average: 70.1 (771)
SPECIAL TEAMS:
K: Austin Seibert - 89 - Seibert was ok in placekicking but just one return on kickoffs, wow.
P: Austin Seibert - N/A -
KR: Tre Brown - 81 - Big return but didn't get a lot of avenues as it went on.
PR: Cedarian Lamb - XX -
Special Teams Average: 85 (170)
KEY RESERVES:
RB: Kennedy Brooks - 95 - Dude just balls on everyone, nothing more to be said.
TE: Grant Calcaterra - 81 - A few nice catches including a key score.
CB: Parnell Motley - 64 - Didn't do a lot but thought he was ok when he was out there.
S: Delarrin Turner-Yell - 40 - Young guy was actually in position on an INT but has to finish, other than that was a little slow in help (to be understood for a young guy still learning).
Reserves Average: 70 (280)
Team Average: 78 (2183)
My Team Grade: 76
This team still has no idea of how to work with itself on a minute scale but you can't argue the fact that they keep finding a way to win.
I mean, admit it, when West Virginia went up 42-38, you all thought it was lost (you won't admit it, but we both know it).
Regardless though this team kept fighting and while I know I'll get some backlash for some of my defensive grades I think you look at a few young guys that had a tough time in the secondary and that ruins what was a good performance from a lot of other guys. It wasn't an awful performance from everyone but a few were so bad that it just clouds the way some of it looks.
Offensively the Sooners still struggled to put their foot on their opponent's throat but it's hard to argue with the productivity and largely it was a great performance with very few exceptions.
Scoring Standard:
100-82: Playoff Contender
82-74: Big 12 Title Contender
74-65: Bowl Game Participant
65-0: 'I'll be hoooome for Christmas
