A High School Football Field Somewhere
QB: Kyler Murray - 86 - Amazing work for the comeback but two turnovers were crippling.
RB: Trey Sermon - 70 - Had a few moments but still just too much dancing.
TE: Carson Meier - 83 - I thought he was one of the few guys who will be happy with how it came out.
WR: A.D. Miller- 60 - I didn't notice him once.
WR: Cedarian Lamb - 82 - BAD drop on the third down but was largely good through the day.
WR: Marquise Brown - 88 - Really blocked well, Boyd gave him some trouble though.
LT: Bobby Evans - 78 - Is there talk of moving him to the left side?
LG: Ben Powers - 74 - Got hit for holding and OU's left side had plenty of issues.
C: Creed Humphrey - 70 - Thought at times the game looked big for the young pup.
RG: Dru Samia - 76 - It wasn't perfect but Samia looked to have been ok.
RT: Cody Ford - 78 - I honestly thought he was pretty solid.

Offensive Average: 78.6 (865)

DEFENSE:

DT: Kenneth Mann - 63 - Had a few key plays but was largely shoved around all day.
DT: Neville Gallimore - 73 - Made a few plays late but was largely fodder before hand.
DE: Amani Bledsoe - 55 - I saw him get shoved around far too often.
JACK: Mark Jackson - 60 - The Watson touchdown was a matchup he could never win but didn't create much pressure.
LB: Kenneth Murray - 70 - He was ok, missed too many tackles but also tracked all over the field.
LB: Curtis Bolton - 75 - I actually saw some positives from Bolton but again, missed tackles.
NB: Justin Broiles - 45 - Oh man, he won't want to see this one again, Lil'Jordan Humphrey DOMINATED this matchup.
CB: Parnell Motley - 50 - Coverage wasn't awful but he just can't make a play on the ball in the air.
CB: Tre Norwood - 60 - Again, he just wasn't challenged.
S: Brendan Radley-Hiles - 50 - If Oklahoma had a better option it's possible they should explore it.
S: Kahlil Haughton - 45 - I can't remember him making a play all day.

Defensive Average: 59 (649)

SPECIAL TEAMS:

K: Austin Seibert - 91 - Hit a field goal and put the ball out of the end zone every time.
P: Austin Seibert - 93 - Guy has been punting really well, quietly.
KR: Tre Brown - 84 - Was about one arm tackle from breaking a big one on a few occasions.
PR: Cedarian Lamb - N/A -

Special Teams Average: 89.3 (268)

KEY RESERVES:

RB: Kennedy Brooks - 82 - What does this guy have to do to get some more touches?
RB: Marcelias Sutton - 81 - Never been a huge fan but it looked like Oklahoma had something going then didn't ever come back to it.
TE: Lee Morris - 70 - Was ok but that drop was brutal - even if it was a lot to ask.
LB: Caleb Kelly - 68 - I didn't get to watch him real closely but thought he was ok.
CB: Tre Brown - 84 - Had a costly missed tackle but also broke up an even bigger pass.
SS: Robert Barnes - 71 - Bad shade on the slant in the fourth but I actually thought he did some good things.

Reserves Average: 76 (456)

Team Average: 72.2 (2238)

My Team Grade: 67

I pretty much like where things came out, I thought the defense may have been a touch high but there were a few 'ok' performances in there amongst a lot of really, really ugly days.

And for those who haven't seen it...just so we can clear up any 'Josh we want a DC report card'...

The turnovers were awful, and were ultimately the difference in the game, but it's clear that this defense isn't going anywhere, if anything it has regressed from the season opener against Florida Atlantic. The group struggled not only with tackling but the personnel often didn't make any sense - for example Tre Brown was not on the field on their final drive after setting up Oklahoma's game-tying drive as the only Oklahoma corner to win in a jump ball scenario to that point in the game.

Offensively watching Kyler Murray I was reminded of something I heard Tom Izzo say one time 'I don't care about quiet leaders, they aren't the ones who will tell a teammate what he is doing isn't enough'. I couldn't help but wonder how much Oklahoma missed Baker Mayfield who, just by personality, would have done plenty to get control of a team that was in utter disarray both in the mid-second quarter as well as the late third.

Murray's talent and self-belief pushed Oklahoma back into that game but let's be honest the more talented team got hit in the mouth and rarely found any response.

Scoring Standard:

100-82: Playoff Contender
82-74: Big 12 Title Contender
74-65: Bowl Game Participant
65-0: 'I'll be hoooome for Christmas
