A while back, I heard for a good source that Red McCombs had a real interest is getting the LA Raiders to San Antonio, but there was nothing to confirm. Now that its out there I think it may become a possibility given Red's past connections with pro sports. If the San Diego Chargers move to LA, it could happen. Red is probably needing a team to root for nowadays.

Just like LA was back when the Rams moved to St Louis back in 1994?
It's all about the NFL getting new stadiums. If you won't build a new stadium, they will move the team to somewhere that will. LA wouldn't build a new stadium back in the 90s, so they moved the Rams to St Louis. St Louis won't build a new stadium, so they move the team back to LA where another spectacle will be built just like Jerrydome.
Oh, and the LA stadium is going to house the NFL Network too. Interesting?
They also plan on it being a CFP location, Final Four location, concerts, etc. They're putting a roof on it, so they can do everything.

That is like the definition of a monopolistic practice. Today is the 49th anniversary of the Packers vs the Chiefs in The First Super Bowl. A new competitive league could never happen when the city builds a stadium with tax payer dollars, only to have the NFL team own it in ten years or less.

The Alamodome needs a lot of money invested into to meet the standards of today's NFL stadiums.

Red has indicated that He would be willing to invest in the team and there are several sites in San Antonio for a new stadium. McCombs loves sports more than even the car business and he is a billionaire. If the deal is doable he would love to own another sports franchise especially in his home town. He would still be the owner of the Vikings if the league had allowed him to move the team to San Antonio.
McCombs sold them several years ago but has also owned the NBA Spurs and Nuggets in the past. He recently invested approximately $250m of the $450m Formula 1 race track in Austin. The guy watches every sporting event he has time to see. He even watches curling. Really.
