I can't remember what thread it was in so I'll put it here. But we discussed the recruiting in Texas or the lack thereof this past cycle. I thought I'd post it up that OU already has more commits from Texas for 2017 than the just landed. So far Stoops & Co has received a total of 5 commits, 4 from Texas and 1 from the Sooner state. All of them 4 stars.

It'll be 364 days or so til the next NSD, but so far, I'm excited about the 2017 class.

Count me as one who has voiced being a bit concerned with the appearance that recruiting Texas has lost some of it's focus. But in the end, if OU can bring in great players to play for titles from elsewhere, then that works for me too. For me though, I guess since Texas has been so pivotal for OU recruiting since the Bud Wilkinson days, that hate to see OU possibly losing it's influence with Texas recruits. OU will always get kids from Texas, but only having 3 in the 2016 class was just really odd historically for OU recruiting.

But it's encouraging to see such a great start for the 2017 class.

As far as recruiting goes, the rise of Baylor, TCU, and A&M, has hurt OU's success in Texas.

There is already talk, of one of them flipping to Texas.
