Recruiting rank 2020

I know recruiting rankings don’t really tell the tale until years down the road but the same teams at the top of the rankings usually are the ones playing for championship. We have to get better for sure. How? I don’t know other than outwork the others and have some success in the playoffs. Which is why the suspensions really hurts in a lot of different ways.

One of the JUCO signees was a 4 star coming out of high school, but is not rated at all in this class.

Lost McCellan and added a JUCo which doesn’t count in the rankings. A double whammy.

in addition, a couple of recruits have chosen not so sign until later. We can only hope they do.

OU is not done recruiting.
Grimes wants to sign in February with OU. Josh mentioned on the radio that Grimes wants his mother with him and wants to make it a media BFD.
QB Chandler Morris, defecting from his Arkansas commit, is an OU lean according to Josh McCuistion. He is rated the 4th best QB in Texas as a dual QB. OU has always preferred three QBs.
And lost in all the gloom and doom are 5 top flight offensive lineman and a solid TE in Conyers.
The sleeper may be Athlete Michael Henderson (6'3" 225 lbs) who can play well at TE, LB, DE and QB. His video is impressive as a dual action QB.
As for JUCO talent: Winfrey is ranked number 1....Harrington number 9....and Ellison number 12.

We are ranked #10 in the 247 composite w/o a QB. Grimes, Morris, and a couple of surprises like Wren could push us into the top 5-7.

Yes that could give things a boost. Hope we can add some late surprises and flip some great defenders. Offense seems well staffed for many years to come. Morris sounds very gifted and his film looks respectable. Cheers and happy holidays !!

Great points. I also don't understand the specifics of how Rivals, or 247 or anybody else decides to rank a class, but I suspect that a class with no quarterback gets a little deduction. If Morris does sign with us, I suspect it will help both ways. I.E. in our ranking. And it will help with the actually excellence of the class.

Morris, the coach's son, and student of the game, might surprise despite his seeming physical limitations. He was surely a high performer at Highland Park.

Very good chance it appears. Georgia looks to have backed off and w the loss of McCellan, OU’s offer will look pretty good to him and pretty gods for us as well
What a great bounce back it would be to get him, even though McClellan is rated higher. Wren is reported to have 4.3 speed and has been offered by OU last night.

I posted this a couple of years ago. It doesn't have anything to do with positions; Team points are accumulated based upon rating and rankings. The point value within a "star" rating will vary significantly. For instance, a four star with a rating of 6.0 and a national ranking of 30 will garner significantly more points than a four star with a rating of 5.8 and a national ranking of 100. You'll have to click the link to see the full table of bonus points associated with the national ranking.

What does the numerical Rivals Rating (RR) mean?
6.1 = Five-star prospect

6.0-5.8 = Four-star prospect

5.7-5.5 = Three-star prospect

5.2-5.4 = Two-star prospect

6.1 Franchise Player: considered one of the elite prospects in the country, generally among the nation's top 30-35 players overall, a potential first-team All American candidate and a player deemed to have first round NFL potential.

6.0-5.8 All American Candidate: considered one of the next-tier elite prospects in the country, generally among the nation’s top 300-325 prospects overall, a national All American candidate and a player deemed to have first to third round NFL potential

5.7-5.5 All Region Selection: considered among the region’s top prospects and generally among the nation’s top 800-850 prospects overall, a potential All-Conference candidate and a player deemed to have mid to low-end pro potential and ability to impact at the college level.

5.2-5.4 Low End FBS prospect: considered a mid-major prospect with limited pro potential and expected to contribute 1-2 years at a high level maximum or often as a role player.

*At the end of National Signing Day, any prospect that signs with an FBS program, and we have not evaluated, will be assigned a 5.2 Rivals Rating (RR).

Thanks CT, for giving me an Acronym that sums up my ideas on most thangs, these days! :p

The numbers game played by recruiting rankings and rankers is
rubbish. 1st there are more like 50 prospects that will likely play
to the ability that they call 5* Not just 30. And a whole bunch of
3* that'll be 4* players in college. Not really as objective as they
claim.

Good points.
And, like you, I regard recruiting as a very inexact science.
What I'm seeing with Riley and his coaches is the recruitment of many players that show great promise in film, but are not rated above a 3-star. And with the overall decline of instate high school football, OU has hit Texas recruiting even harder, especially in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro-plex, and cherry picking everywhere else. So far it's working....at least as far as making the final four goes.
2020 recruiting breakdown:
10...3-stars
12... 4-stars
11.... from Texas
2 from Oklahoma
2 from Dixie (Florida and Tennessee)
10....defensive players
12....offensive players
And the class is rated anywhere from 9th to 12th depending on what "guru" you choose.....with at least two more possible additions in February.
One other key point is that now, Riley has to rely on his own recruited quarterbacks to come through instead of the three he's had since 2015. More than any other player on the roster, all eyes will be on Spencer Rattler next year.
