This 2016 class could be a good one if certain players can be recruited late....LB Kelly, ATH Jacobs, LB Cole and WR Mykel Jones are available now and Swenson's and Farrar's late commitments this past weekend were nice additions.FYI...
Plus, I like the number (five) of offensive linemen brought in. It looks like at least two (the JUCO's) can play right away....and this is without Tramonda Moore from OKC, who can still be had.
I am not overly concerned about the lack of a defensive tackle in this class. Sophomore Overton and redshirts Lampkin, Garnett and Gallimore are coming up to team with Walker, Romar and Wade, so that's seven bodies to man that position. Daniels is still a possibility even though it may be a reach at this time to reel him in since he decommited a few weeks ago.
Wednesday looks to be a good day for OU. With a little luck, it could be a very good day.
CT, you seem to follow the recruiting pretty close. Would you be willing to write-up a summary of the players we're getting once this is done? Strenghts/weaknesses - rankings by position and how they might compare to existing players?
Losing Kelly to ND would be bad IMO. We're already hurting at LB and Kelly was the Plan A and has been a long, long, time. I'll take LB Cole though. But I don't think he's a suitable replacement for Kelly. BTW, while Cole formally de-committed, he did so after Bama told him that he would be grey-shirted and could not enroll until Jan. Pretty much what OU did w/ Trevor.
Swenson was a good get for OU but I still have no idea as to why Mich cooled their jets on him. But he comes ranked pretty high but it is strange that no other Big10 school jumped on him. But I'm glad they didn't.

I'm sure I will offer my opinions along with others here. All I will say now is that OU seems to be in line for a serious upgrade for the 2016 class, even if Youngquist, Daniels and Jacobs do not join the team. What would be a huge loss is if Caleb Kelly defects. All indications are that he is 95% Sooner. He is OU's main defensive target. As far as I'm concerned, he is OU's main RECRUITING target overall. With OU losing 5 linebackers, they now have McGinnis, DeBerry, Tay Evans, Jordan Evans, Bolton and two JUCO's in Beal and Doucet that are said to be ready to go.....plus recruits like Terry and (hopefully) Kelly.
On the OL, with Frison and Hearne gone along with Farniok, Kasitati and Darlington via graduation....then the questions of Danley, Daimler, Young...then having Alvarez move into the starting center position....OU desperately needed immediate help. I think that happened and there still may be one more if Moore comes in. Brown and Samia are solid tackles and Ford and Evans had good redshirt years.
I expect Austin Kendall (already enrolled) to win the backup QB job in spring drills. That is not as much wishful thinking as it is a legitimate possibility. Kendall is a stud....and unlike Cody Thomas, he's all football.
Good question. I have read two articles that stated Alvarez will move to center. Have not heard anything on Dalton.....anyone know about his status ?
RILEY COLE- I train the kid. He has mentioned B. Bosworth, is a college players he likens himself to- that is saying a lot I know, but something to dream for. The kid is a full 6-3 230lbs now up 25 in last 4 months. In training HARD 4 days wkly 90 to 120 min. sessions- if it happens he goes to OU, will show you what I mean in some videos. The kid would be Bigger/Stronger imo, and similar speed 4.6 as the two instate LB's Bama is about to sign - both 5 stars. He can really run too. I HOPE he takes OU offer...
He is very disappointed the NEW DC who came in popped the idea 5 days before signing day and really upset him. He had been told to come in ready to play special teams by the two coaches who went to UGA- numerous times told this, and he was working towards doing that. Nick don't take kids that don't have a lot of athleticism and SIZE. This kid will weigh 250lbs by Fall. He doubled at HBACK and that is my pick for him to play, but he loves MLB and is very smart to the ball. Got good hands playing both ways full time for his high school.
Bet you are taking some kids not as talented- looking over the LB's committed- Riley will be your biggest one if he picks OU.

Cole is out and Jackson is in.
Mark Jackson LB, 4 star recruit, was committed to A$M, then re-visited Norman last week and committed last night. Another very nice pick up.
Absolutely CT!! There is a lot riding on how the big time guys OU is holding out hope for will go. If they go to OU like we all hope, then OU lands a damn solid class, and Top 10 class!!! But if they don't pan out for OU, then OU lands a pretty solid class. It's down to pins and needles waiting to see how it all plays out.
Looks like the Baylor site is reporting that Cobb has flipped and will sign with Baylor
He is supposed to announce that @ 6:00 p.m. Stay tuned...

I never get excited about recruiting until signing day, but do enjoy all the posts you guys and gal offer up. I'm looking forward to see who of you great fans were right. Thanks to all for your opinions and info. Boomer!
personally I am on pins and needles about the class..Part of all of this if filling needs. Speaking of which I need a beer.

Yankees, I'm sure others feel the way we do, but I really appreciate those that make the effort to keep up with and share recruiting news. Whatever makes a Sooner fan a FAN is cool with me. Without recruiting talk there wouldn't be much constructive football discussion after the end of the season. So it's a plus. After tomorrow there's spring football then the long, long wait until fall practice and opening day. I can't wait until September, but at my age it's not too smart to wish your life away. Haha
