Surprise commits and decommits are part of the game. Happens every year. Every year I'm surprised at the number of people who get bent out of shape and shocked about it like it's never happened before.
Not sure how the next two weeks will work out. Bob's track record shows that however it pans out, we'll be in the top 15 range....where we have been for the last 5-10 years and all the hand-wringing in the world won't change that.....but if you insist, get yourself worked up into hypertension.... If you had it in the back of your mind that we'd somehow pull off a magical run and be in the top 10, you were betting your emotions on the actions of 18 year olds who can be unpredictable.
And for those who are concerned about plan B, C and D options.......William Johnson was, at the very highest, a plan B option and likely a plan C. Not saying it always works out that way but occasionally a guy hits like that and it reminds you that none of us know how any of these kids will pan out. We may get Kelly and he may ride the pine for 3 years and have an unspectacular career. We've seen 2-3 stars become studs and 4-5 stars flame out....and it happens everywhere.
Chill out and enjoy the ride. Suspense in the month of January makes it tense but also fun. Hard to tell but it seems like the coaching staff has cast a wide net for 2017 and we should really be in a position for a big recruiting haul in 2017...and the timing could be good for it if we have a lot of JR's leave early next year.
