Please explain

The chair of the committee said “ We took the H2H into consideration but PSU beat Iowa who beat Minny....We just feel that PSU is the better team”.

That is what he seriously said. So basically in the eyes of the committee PSU didn’t lose to Minnesota.

The Committee likes name brands, Minnesota is not. Pretty much why they were not going up much in the polls while they were undefeated and dropped like a rock when they lost to Iowa.

I doubt beating TCU in a convincing fashion will help much. The playoff committee knows who they want in already

Guess we won't know if beating tcu in a convincing fasion would have helped or not. We got lucky with a win tonight over a 5-5 team. That likely hurts more than blowing them out would have helped.

I honestly don't think that is true. If OU wins out, we will be in serious consideration to make the final four. That might not be best for us.

Arizona did what surprised a lot after four straight losses. But if Oregon can beat Utah in the PAC 12 CCG, then OU will have a great chance. We'll be seventh Tuesday night, I believe. Minnesota might pass us by beating a really lousy Northwestern team, but it won't matter once the next two weeks happen.

I will say that I won't be surprised if we get beat in the next two weeks. I keep hearing that we are finding ways to win in November. But it seems like we were trying to find ways to lose. A very fortunate spot ended the game tonight. I don't think it was close.

If Minnesota wins their next two, they will earn a spot in the CFP, and deserve it. If they don't they won't be there.

If Georgia wins out, they will earn a spot in the CFP. If they don't, they won't make it. If either happens, OU is out.

If Utah wins out, they'll have a high likelyhood of making the CFP. If they don't, then that's one less thang to keep OU out.

If you want OU in the final four, the CFP, then today was a good day. Herm Edwards pulled it off.

LR has been right all along. You just win, and let other things take care of themselves. We have the least effective OLine that we've had in the last four years. Maybe five. TCU kicked our butts on two fourth down plays in dangerous to not make it field position.

We miss Calcaterra. We miss Sermon. We miss a healthy right tackle and left tackle. CeeDee wasn't full speed tonight. And Jalen forgets about ball protection at the wrong time. So did a freshman receiver.

If we have to run Jalen more than 20 times a game against a defense like Baylor's, it takes a toll. He showed some weathering tonight.

I really don't care who finishes fifth nationally, if it includes us. But Penn State is a better team, IMO, than Minnesota. If they played on a neutral site, the Lions would win. Otherwise, you could ask why Iowa is ranked behind Minnesota.

One unexplained fact remains, how in the wide world of sports can Gary Patterson be stopped from sweating ? His own body could supply half or more of the moisture to grow crops in the Sahara...

Lol I feel bad for that girl that has to stand by him with his sweaty towel when he needs it. NASTY.

I believe the next released rankings will look something like below.

1. Ohio State - I just think the committee will make the switch but honestly IMHO I think Clemson is better than both THE and LSU.
2. LSU - Its 50-50 on rather or not they remain the top dog.
3. Clemson - No real quality win is what keeps them at 3. However I would bet money on them to beat both the teams above them.
4. Georgia - They won' t move and barring an upset next week they will have a real shot of beating LSU and if that happens LSU isn't going to be left out of the playoffs in this scenario.
5. Alabama - The love affair with Bama keeps them in the running and if they beat Auburn while OU and Utah wins out and finishes as 12-1 conference champs they may both get pushed aside for the Bama love.
6. Utah - Solid on both sides of the ball. They should be ahead of Alabama but they won't be.
7. Minnesota - They will jump our Sooners this week and I would bank on it. The TCU win even though statistically was dominated by the Sooners 511 to 204 total yards won't be enough to jump up to 7.
8. Oklahoma - I will be highly surprised if they move up to 7 and even more surprised if they jump to 6.
9. Penn State - PSU will not be punished to much for the loss to THE.
10. Oregon - It is possible that Michigan or Florida pops up here and if they did it won't be a shocker.

Just my opinion.

I think you may be right about PSU but H2H has to account for something at this point though. Iowa is one of those teams that always seems to beat some high ranked team every year and it's not like they are a bad team in any way. Because of Minnesota beating PSU is why I think we wil lsee Minnesota make the jump ahead of OU in this weeks CFP released poll.

Oh don't kid yourself it had nothing to do with the H2H as it had everything to do with "Brand Name". They can try to pull the wool over everyone's eyes as much as they would like but Ohio State got in on brand name alone.
Not talking about Ohio State, TCU was ranked higher than Baylor, who beat them, until the last ranking came out, which was explained by Jeff Long...

Gotcha and that was baffling but in the end it was still about brand name jumping over a team that was ahead them the weak before.
