I don't think there are a lot of secrets. Baylor reminds a lot of many of Snyder's best KState teams. They played a weak non conference schedule.

In the conference, they were every bit OUr equal by almost any measure. We got some breaks to come back on them in Waco, where they lead 28-3 two thirds of the way through the 2nd quarter. I thought we were trying to feel our way around missing our biggest offensive threat, CeeDee Lamb. We kind of figured it out after halftime. We went run heavy.
Baylor's defense is really good. They will knock your head off and play a defense that tries to emphasize that. The give you room a lot in the secondary, then come make you pay for catching it. They also hold a runner up occasionally to come deal some punishment. It's clean, but painful. It is universally spoken in the XII this year, that Baylor plays tough, hard hitting defense. They were particularly effective at forcing Hurts turnovers. His streak of ball security issues started that night.
They might have the two best DL's in the conference, 99 and 93. One, Brevvion Roy is huge. The other, James Lynch, is just really really good. They are hard to block. But somehow in Waco, we figured out a way to put up 27 (three TD's two FG's) in the second half. And OUr D, which gave up 31 in the first half, got a shut out after intermission.
Denzel Mims, their best receiver might be the best receiver in the game. He is fast and strong. Great playmaker for three years, even when their team sucked two years ago. He was still the third best receiver in the conference at midseason. But then OSU's stud went down for the year, and CeeDee hasn't been as good since he came back from concussion protocol. His burst seems to be less impactful. OU needs him to look great again this Saturday.
Mostly they have a Steve Davis kind of a quarterback who is more athletic than he looks, and very effective. Charlie Brewer has been terrific all year, especially in the clutch at the end of games. He also threw a pick to Nik Bonitto at the end of game 1. But he got surprised by an early snap and didn't get a good read on the defense, and had moderate quick pressure. And Bonitto made an incredible play. Other than that play, Brewer has been money on end of game drives when it mattered. It's part of why Baylor has been so good in close games. Most Sooner fans know that he is the son and grandson of a Longhorn quarterback. But UT wasn't interested. He was born in Austin and graduated from Lake Travis, nearby.
Baylor hurt OU in the first half in Waco with a number of quarterback draw kinds of plays, with OL's downfield blocking on pass looking snaps. OU adjusted in the second half, until the last possession, and Baylor moved it pretty quickly, until Bonitto's pick. Before that, OU limited the Bears so much, that we had a season low of defensive snaps in a half.
Baylor has the best red zone defense in the conference and one of the best in the country. I believe that OU's freshman TE Austin Stogner, surprised them a bit with his effectiveness inside the 20 for two TD's, both on nice catches. Braden Willis also had a receiving touchdown. Baylor will likely give some extra attention to the tight ends in the red zone. All three tight end TD receptions were under 5 yard completions.
Baylor's plays two running backs pretty equally. They have totaled about 1250 yards rushing. John Lovett starts and has a few more yards. JaMycal Hasty has more burst, but his strip fumble on their first possession of the 2nd half in game 1, was the key play of OU's comeback.
Baylor beat Texas and Kansas worse than OU did. They beat KState in Manhattan by three touchdowns.
OU best West Virginia soundly, Baylor barely won. OU killed Tech. Baylor beat them 33-30. Ok State, TCU and Iowa State were kind of a comparison wash. Obvious we won the head to head at their place, but it was a very strange game.
