would love to know the places I shouldn't miss while I am in Norman from Virgina this weekend.

Places I SHOULD eat and places I HAVE to go while in town would be appreciated!

Boomer!

You've never been to Norman?

Honestly, there's nothing that really stands out as far as things to see.

Restaurants are OK. Try Ray's BBQ and maybe Tarahumara's for mexican food.

I have been there and we went to the game and and some bars but that was about it. Is there any bars I should go to or places near norman that I should go before the game
To hang with fans or such?

It's in OKC but I wouldn't miss getting a Nic's hamburger while in town. Consistently rated the #1 or #2 burger in the Country by Trip Advisor - when searching trip advisor, it will come up as the best overall restaurant in OKC. Only open M-F for breakfast and lunch and the lunch line forms around 11:00. If you're not in line before 10:45 or so, you'll wait a while. I know burgers sound generic but this is a "damn good burger".

Exactly everything he said, other than that though just walk around the tailgates meet people and stroll around campus corner a little bit no bar in particular is better than any other there so no real bad decision, if you aren't a fan of duchebaggery though don't go to 747

Thanks for agreeing with me, but I actually like 747. Went there all the time in undergrad, occasionally go before home games. Guessing the "douchebaggery" you speak of = fraternity and sorority crowd? No bid?

Eat lunch at The Mont! If you have time, go to the memorial in OKC, very moving.

If you like a little fancier you need to try Red Prime in OKC. Order the prime rib...amaaaazing. That's good stuff.

Another thing you could try is going to Bleu Garten and eating at some of the food trucks they have. Those are always really good.

Really unique burger bar is called The Garage in okc. Okc has the best and it's only 15 minutes away. Best places to eat are there.

I think the Garage is in Norman now downtown, no?

Definitely go to campus corner Saturday before game, Louie's , oconnels, sugars and 747

Seriously, why doesn't Norman have a kickass place for Sooners to eat, drink and be merry? Stool water has Eskimo Joes. Good food and great atmosphere. Can one of you fancy pants donor types not invest a boatload of money on some cool place in Norman?

I know a few places have failed in Norman, but someone has to step up and improve our options.

Eskimo Joes has awful food outside of their cheese fries and I have had verification by native stoolwaterans.

Fuzzys and Chimys are both great places to grab a marg or beer and some tacos on campus corner. Tarahumara is by far the best mexican food in Norman. If you haven't been to the Mont and gotten a swirl that's a destination as well.

Yeah Eskimo joes was big back in the 90s and people still go there a lot but aside from their cheese fries(which it's almost impossible to mess up cheese fries) there's not much else good there.

If your in Norman and want food to go, try " The Cube" on Main St. It's drive through only but they have really good food, great coffee drinks and even bags of ice to cool down your tailgate beverages.

I love Eskimo Joes simply because when I was a teen, we went there multiple times in one summer. Visiting OSU's campus, team camps, etc. I won 2 raffles while there.

They used to. It was called O'Connels. It's was a sooner staple and was a great old place. The new O'Connels looks like a reimagined corporate version of its former self. Lame.

Lol yes mostly the Greek crowd is what I am referring to, never rushed transferred to OU as a sophomore after tearing up my knee playing juco baseball. I liked it better when it was fire house prior to 747 not a fan of bars where you have to scream at people to talk to them and you can't hardly move around. Place always just seemed a bit pretentious to me I liked the old oconnels and joes taverna much better is all. Also don't mean to marginalized the Greeks had plenty of friends in various houses that were good people.

O'Connels was nice with friends, but we need a big time family atmosphere to bring in every Sooner family visiting Norman, and it needs a great bar area as well. Coach's was a good place, but did not have the same Joe's atmosphere. Somebody needs to come up with a plan.

The vista used to be a really good game day spot sucks it had to shut down

Only one I've been to is in OKC if there is one in Norman I've never been. But I just went to the one in OKC a couple of days ago and it was pretty good.
I don't know how long The Garage in Norman (on Main Street) has been open, but it was around years before the OKC locations (FYI there is more than one OKC location--Midtown, I-240, and one off I-40 if you want to count Del City).

Food is good (nothing spectacular), and they have great girlie drinks served in plastic pineapples...if you and your party are into those.

Yep

I still like Victoria's on Campus Corner. Pepe Delgado's is underrated in my view. Both will be unenjoyably busy on game day, so catch them before or after. Also like Misal of India (if you like that kind of food) - wish they hadn't left Campus Corner. For beer/drinks on gameday without a tailgate, just enjoy the pub crawl around Campus Corner (includes O'Connell's, Louie's, Brother's, etc.) . Not one of them really stands out, but all are worth a step in/through. The Mont is also a staple though I do wonder why each time I go. Library Bar & Grill was always more enjoyable to me than the Mont - very laid back. Haven't been there in quite a while though. Complete dive of a place - Greek House! Good gyro = bad breath. One place that I've been wanting to try is Scratch. Is in older downtown Norman area not too far from campus.

OP is coming to Norman from out of town, and you suggest he eat his meals at a convenience store? WTF?

OK, but why make generalized comments about patrons of 747, who are mostly greeks?
