Permanent DC options?

How about LSU’s DC ? Dave Aranda looks like he would be a good fit to bring in. Anybody else feel that way ??

Sure, but I read he is making $2m at LSU with a guaranteed $10m contract. He is # 1 coordinator and Brent is #2 at $1.7m the last time I checked. Wowzer!!

If he brings National Championship caliber defense, you cannot put a price tag on that. Lincoln Riley does most of offensive play calling so we could have the best of both worlds. Even beyond what Bama has put out there. Time for action. Not more of the same.

It will be interesting to see how much OU is willing to pony up. I expect they will go after a guy they feel is an up and comer rather than an established successful co-DC that will want $1m plus. May be time to come coco with the grapo. Lol

Agree bama...we are at a crossroads and have our blinker on. Time to see if traffic allows us to make the correct turn versus continuing on the same crappy road.

Golding $250k this year and
$550k the next two years per contract.

JoeC can lock him up for $650k next year and $800k following year

Some names outside of what's been mentioned

Kevin Steele, is my #1, he did great things at LSU and Bama. Open the check book, he's the real deal. Auburn might fire the head coach and stability will look good. I think he is most teams looking, first choice. He still has deep ties in Texas, from his Baylor and LSU days. He is the one that turned around Bama defense. And lets not forget the great Neb defenses of the 90's.

John Chavis, did great things at Tenn and LSU, aTm was cut short and well Ark is just bad.

Kevin Sherrer, he was a great recruiter and LB coach at UGA, and Tenn has been solid at D

Chris Rumph is another at Tenn that did great things at UF

Jeff Collins is a long shot

As an Iowa State fan. If you don't offer our D Coordinator I would be surprised. I think he is one of the top guys in the country. I would hate to lose him. The only positive I have heard is he hates moving and we had to work really hard to get him to come to Iowa State when Campbell came. So hopefully that is a factor. My guess is he get's a pretty good raise in the off season if we can keep him away. That is if we can keep Campbell also.

Haha
Auburn not firing Gus. They owe $32m buyout after extending him last year. Most insane contract ever.
Add to that - if they fire Gus after 2021 - the buyout is $16m!!!!!!
He’s Auburn’s problem for a very long time.

They might not fire him but the Fanbase is getting pretty loud. A house cleaning is going to happen or like I said. Stability a chance to coach for a blue blood, might appeal to him.

Go get Golding, let him replace Cooks in the secondary and then find a young and hungry linebacker coach to replace Kish. Let Diaco stay as a position coach/co-DC.

I may be in the minority but I have to say I agree with the premise of your post. Your DC is older and not sure how that would translate regarding recruiting success but from an x's and o's standpoint and getting results, he's the best I've seen to date at slowing down these Big 12 offenses consistently. They dismantled WVU Imo. There are some other great names out there too but based on recent results this guy takes a back seat to none, imo.

I think our new DC is already on campus.
Lincoln brought Diaco in for a reason.
And “defense analyst” wasn’t the reason.
Diaco is a bit of a wild card to me.
I would hope that what I saw of him while he was HC at UConn doesn't represent his true aptitude or his ability to make quick and correct in-game decisions and/or adjustments. I realize he had little to work with at UConn (a basketball school only), but he single-handedly coughed up several games with his lack of decision making.
Diaco is young, energetic, articulate (when he's not babbling)....but is he what OU needs in terms of a permanent long term DC ?
Maybe he is just one of those coaches who can only succeed as an assistant coach as Gomer Jones and Gary Gibbs did.

Actually, this would be my preference. Kinda like the one at Clemson.
