there is a perceived downfall of OU since they have not been in the NT game since the loss to UF in 08.

I just did some searching and I wanted to compare OU to the rest of P5 teams from 09 to date and found something that I thought might be work a discussion. Below is where OU ranks for wins in the country vs all other P5 schools broke down by spans with winning %

09-date - 9th in P5 59 wins 74.6% (8-5 that year, so includes 2 years with 5 losses and still in top 10 and above OU winning % all time)

10-date - 8th in P5 51 wins 77.2%

11-date - 8th in P5 39 wins 75%

12-date - 9th in P5 29 wins 74.5% (note that Lousiville is ahead but had 12-1 in AAC so did not count)

13-date - 11th in P5 19 wins 73% (including last season which was considered a failure, obviously with small sample of 2 years an 8-5 hurts and is evident by being 11th in country and 73% which is still above OUs % all time)

so while it is often doom and gloom, the program as a whole is still top 10 every span barring 13/14 which we dropped to 11th, I know that the blowout losses to baylor, aggies, and clemson hurt perception, but in reality the program is still up there as far as putting wins up. I am not trying to pump sunshine, betting blown out in those games as we did is unacceptable and shows that player quit, coaches relaxed, and we had issues....but you cant be top 10 program over a span in wins and be a dumpster fire that many want to make OU out to be. You dont end up top 10 in wins consistently by accident in CFB today.

And as far as the great talent drop off, there are many many teams that whip OU in the recruiting team rankings over that span that are looking up at us in every example I posted....so what is the explanation for that since we are told that we dont get talent or develop talent?

If in 1997 I had told you that we would have a 6 year stretch that we were top 10 in the country in win totals and 73-77% winning percentage would you have been ecstatic or pissed off?
