Penny Sales Tax Increase

Saw a story that if the penny sales tax goes through for education, Oklahoma will have the highest combined local and state sales tax in the US (currently 6th). Tulsa would be 3rd and OKC 4th (currently 12th and 14th) among major cities behind only Chicago and Seattle.....some towns have as much as 0.10+ per dollar added tax (Clinton, Hallett, Kiowa, Red Rock, Savanna,Ft Gibson)

We do have lower than national avg property tax, while personal income and business are a bit below national average

The idea was brought for by President Boren to push increase to raise $615M in education money, most of which would be a $5K a year raise to teachers
