Another week, another exploding cigar to take out a swath of survivors. This week, the culprit was the Air Force Zoomies, whose previously high-flying offense was halted by 2-6 Army in a game that wasn't even especially close. There were some tense moments for other contestants, as Ohio State was on upset alert well into the second half before pulling away against Rutgers, Georgia needed four quarters to close out Mizzou, and Washington allowed 42 points but still won in the final game of the Riley-Grinch marriage.

A brief salute to the eliminated:
That will trim the herd down to 59 remaining contestants, with 7 possible undefeated schools to pick from. Here's a glance at the leaderboard, as measured by how many of the undefeated teams each contestant has already burned:
Among the 59 survivors, here's how many of them have used each undefeated team:
  • Liberty (41)
  • Michigan (40)
  • Washington (39)
  • James Madison (33)
  • Florida State (23)
  • Ohio State (8)
  • Georgia (4)
Some of you have expressed curiosity as to how long the competition lasts, and what happens in the event of a tie. The Survivor Pool goes as long as it takes. If everyone runs out of teams, and there's a log-jam at the top, I'll declare a tie-breaker round. For now, don't worry about it. Just get there.
