early kick-off from norman....looks cloudy with a predicted chance of storms today. radio guys saying blow-out by half. game is on fox with klatt and johnson on the call. good team. pre-game show featured a breakdown of riley's spread offense by coach meyer. reggie bush jumped in during the breakdown to say "i'd go play for ou. would love to be in that offense." nice bump. then they did their top 4 and only bush had us in there, with the other analysts criticizing our lack of competition as to why it was basically a mix of lsu, bama, clemson or ohio state. word from the fox sideline reporter is that taco tech will play both of their back-up qbs. she quoted the tech coach as saying "i'll play them both til i find the hot hand". kick off coming up next.

Tech receives kick off. OU will have choice after half. first series dominated by OU defense, greatly assisted by the rice transfer qb now playing for tech, who has an early panic button on his arm. OU first series highlighted by a nice 50-yard bomb from hurts to rambo on a deep post. run game takes over from there. 7-0 OU. second series for tech starts with a PI on the OU kick team. but again the Tech qb Tyner unable to take advantage and OU holds. Sooners take over after tech punt deep in Ou territory.

This crew, and especially that official deep on the home bench side, likes to stick it to us. That was more defensive than offensive PI. But we overcame. Rambo is playing like an all conference receiver.

OU pinned deep and not helped by a questionable offensive pass interference call on lamb.. a deep sideline ball that had riley popping a gasket. hurts answers with a rainbow to rambo that is caught at midfield between 2 tech defenders who bounce off the receiver, allowing him to ramble all the way down to the 15. frosh TE austin stogner nearly scores on an out route so its up to hurts to finish from the 1. OU 14-0

Tech is sittin' on CounterTrey. Or maybe the OL shuffle has something to do with it. But they are doing a good job when we pull two linemen across the back of the formation.

Tech brings in the 3rd string QB (Season starter Bowman out for this game from injury) after the game starter Tyner struggled to move the ball. The new QB is sacked for a big loss by Murray and Tech is forced to punt. OU takes over and after a nice catch by the frosh Haselwood ends up settling for a 34-yd FG by Brkic. It was his first FG attempt and barely squeezed through on the left side. You may have heard the regular starting kicker benched as punishment for public intox earlier this week.

Yes it's a trend I'm not really liking from Grinch. I understand we need depth but we need to build confidence and gel with the starters. Rotate the big guys. Let the back 7 play.

The DB's are the ones most susceptible to getting worn down against no huddle spreads. It's likely a good idea to rotate those guys at least a little.

Jaden Davis has proven his worth. I'm all in on him rotating.

Klatt was right on the no call. It was bad. But the D rose up and held them to a a fg at least. Going to be some growing pains.

Tech's back-up Duffy continues to move the ball. After a touchdown early in the 2nd qtr he drives the raiders to a FG. Its 24-10 when OU takes the ball and sees an apparent first down wiped off by another penalty on Lamb, this time for a face mask on what started as a stiff arm. Hurts is then sacked so it's 3rd and 24 when a Sermon run gets back half, leaving 4th and 11 on the tech 40. Riley goes for it with a dump pass that nets 23 yds and a first down. Lamb then hauls in an over shoulder pass from Hurts. 31-10 OU

I like Lamb but he has terrible body language imo. Hurts is getting good at throwing guys open.

The narrative of Riley and transfers is really lame. He can develop,recruit and utilize skills of QBs better than anyone in the country. Sour grapes to me.

its halftime in norman with OU up 34-10 after another squeeze job by the back-up kicker Gabe Brkic, this time a 33 yarder as time expires. stat line reads OU 423 total yds with Hurts 12-16/306 plus 60 yds rushing. Tech at 154 total yds.

I have to say I'm impressed with Hurts progressions as a qb this year. He is definitely going through his reads and making good decisions. Even on the throws that haven't been completed this game have been on the money, the one in the end zone to Hasselton and the deep throw he made on the run to Rambo that the db luckily got his hand on.

scores of interest .... 3 games stand out. whiskey in a surprise dogfight with northwestern in madison. 7-3 badgers in the 3rd q. heisman hopeful rb jonathan taylor only 80 yds so far. in jerryworld the hawgs and aggies also in an unexpected battle, but a high scoring one. 21-17 AMy. to ft worth where the horned frogs are taking les miles jayhawks to the woodshed up 38-0 at half.

48-13 OU on a trey sermon dash and cut-back from 32 yards out. other scores...still 38-0 in ft worth, while in wisconsin the badgers have now opened up a 17-3 on NW. early in the 4th qtr it's a td for AMy and they're up on Arky but its close. 28-24

Put the pony in the barn as soph qb tanner mordecai comes in along with rb rhamondre stevenson to let the 2nd team get some time. result is first punt of the day. in dallas it's now 28-27 tx am over arky...middle 4th qtr. In Madison, wisconsin has blown up Nw now 24-3. gary patterson called off his frogs after opening up at 38-0 lead on kansas. its 38-7 early 4th qtr.

Late 4th qtr sees Gallimore hustle and cause a fumble recovered by OU. Short field leads to td run for the transfer RB Stevenson. 55-16 ... Meanwhile in dallas the hawgs come close but fail on 4th and 2 from the 50 yd line with a minute to play. AM should win 28-24

Update from dallas....bad call on my part! arky converts the 4th down. new life after they follow that up with a 22-yrd gain. now though its 2 and 17 with 46 sec left
