Gonna be a tough one. I think if we play anything less than our A game that we will lose this one. Let's get these suckers back for the screw job they gave us in football. I'm taking Oklahoma by 6

Big three to end the half. Ou up 18. Buddy needs to limit his turnovers, I think he has 5 so far

Good first half. Need to come out and play with the same intensity in the 2nd half. I'd like to see us increase the lead to 25 or so in the first 5 minutes of the half.

I agree the more the better, the Ducks are going to make a run at some point for sure.

Again buddy needs to limit his turnovers. As far as shooting he is lights out right now. Lattin needs to stay our of foul trouble, dude is a monster at times

Buddy on fire... But 7 turnovers. Lattin picks up his 3rd. Still looking good

Buddy with the dagger....this one is all but over. Now let's see if he can get 40

I went to my first OU basketball game in 1953. I don't think I have ever seen OU play a better half of basketball than that first half. From that point, it was just a matter of not letting Oregon get a flow going. Buddy was great. But, when they were guarding Buddy so tightly in the first half, we had brilliant possessions on which Buddy never touched the ball. They took advantage of the emphasis on Buddy.

Mike please enjoy the big win and not concentrate on me. He is the same poster that trashes Oklahoma on other message boards

Obviously wrong on both accounts, she has never been more than respectful, every time on this board. And I'm not concentrated on just you....your the only one being disrespectful. So I'm asking you to be respectful. Thanks in advance.

Posting we need to limit our turnovers? Lol. Oh yes I'm such a "hater" haha.

Get over it. I post exactly how I would talk if I was at a game or watching it with a group of friends.

I'm glad you agree. I never met a bigger hater here. The lady came by to voice support and you lambasted her. Second time in three months that you've done that to a lady from another school, here to support OU.

As I stated this is the same poster that used to totally trash OU on other message boards. While I appreciate any support we can get, forgive if I don't feel her support is genuine. Geez guys we just experienced a huge win and are headed to the final 4. Let's enjoy the win and be proud of our team. Here I'll start it back up. Plaino how do u feel about villanova? Was the first win a fluke or are we really that much better than them? I think we match up well

Yank, all he is saying is this is all so ironic that you would do this in light of the fact that when you and your brother were perma banned...you both, with gleeful contempt trashed specific posters and both the mods here on the free Scoop, on the Orange bloods board for all the world to read.

That, is going to dog you as long as you punk hapless victims here. You have to factor that into what you post here.

This board has a memory...and it is better than any elephant out there.

Do you guys really want to go down this road? Do you? I thought Josh made it clear that it would not be tolerated ANYMORE. I made a comment in which I since deleted. If her support is sincere then awesome. I suggest you guys focus more on this great win and look forward to the final 4. Our team is playing really well right now.

Beating them wasn't a fluke. Beating them by 23 was a fluke. Those guys defended Kansas in a way we could only hope to. There were a much tougher matchup for Kansas than OU is. But I think we're a tougher matchup for them than Kansas is.

They surprised Kansas by not relying on the three, but instead, pounding them inside. And Ellis got a tough foul call in the first 90 seconds and it took away all his aggressiveness. It wasn't a bad call. But he got banged on a lot in the game and he hardly ever saw a foul called. Kansas is better in a game where they get to the line a good bit. OU seems to play better when they don't call much.

I think in Hawaii, OU just dealt better with jet lag than Nova did. But there is a real positive change in OU too. Lon has coached differently in the tournament. The biggest difference has involved the rest he's giving a couple of guys. Cousins is getting a full tv break to tv break rest in the first half and a five minute rest in the second.

Lon needs Isaiah full speed at the end. Today, even though it might have been a bit early, he put Woodard back in the game with three fouls to give Cousins his full second half rest. He has started resting Lattin in the first ten minutes of the first half, whether or not he's in foul trouble. They'd been playing so much without him anyway. Sitting him after the first tv timeout. If he gets there without a foul, then he gets to sit and see how the game is being played. He still gets fouls where he may not be making much contact, but there tend to be when he does something that usually draws a call. It's time for him to learn what those things are, and back off from getting the customary call that goes against him.

Jumani played his best game today. It was the first time I saw him aggressive and just playing, instead of standing around. He had a block. He made a terrific play on a save attempt. He's playing a little stronger. He's made himself into a valuable contributor for six or seven minutes.

And James, while not great (yet) has become a quality sixth or seventh man. We don't lose as much when Woodard has to sit for whatever reason. James contribution means Jordan only plays 31 or 32 minutes and he's a lot better player with that structure. He played really well in the Regional, although the foul problems hurt him today.

All this to say that I know that Nova is a lot better team that showed up and shot under 15% from three when we played them. Those December Hawaii games don't get much game planning. The national semifinal is more game planned than the final, because you have a week to get ready. We'll have a harder time getting open looks. But OU is a lot better too. Nova has a true college center. A really tall guy with hops and width to his body.

And one other curiosity against Nova, who usually makes a lot of three's. The semifinals in a dome can be a tough adjustment for some distance shooters. Whoever best adjusts to that will have a great chance. So whoever has the best inside game might fare better. When OU shoots like we did in the first half against Oregon, it covers up some defensive deficiencies. Hard to have much transition offense when you're taking the ball out of the basket.

And one other thing. I think the most underrated, least talked about phase of OU's game that has been a huge factor in the success through four games is the way Lon has had a different, specific design against each press we've faced in the tournament. We've had a few turnovers, but nothing like those pressing teams have generated against others they'd faced. 3/4 pressure is a big part of Nova's game. And occasionally turning the pressure up.

OU has hurt full court and shorter court pressure for open looks. When Buddy is on, that pressure gives him so much space, and he cannot be guarded by one guy. Cousins has been great, and has really been the key to OU's offense in the post season. When he got an early third foul against VCU, that's when they cut the lead from comfortable to single digits, to taking a lead. Buddy doesn't get his shots in rhythm much much Cousins is having to sit.

Cousins staying out of foul trouble is a huge key against Nova.

Yea I didn't necessarily mean beating them was a fluke, just by 23. Earlier this year my son's HS bball team lost by 47 in a tournament. They came back and beat that same team in the state championship by 9 lol. Go figure.

I definitely concur with this.

and besides...any poster who throws out the "I'm a lady" part as if using it to garner protection/sympathy, is a bit suspicious to me anyways. Not like it matters. Regardless of sex, a poster is a poster and will be responded to no differently than I would any other poster.

Tournaments in the early season tend to be more about players learning roles, learning the offense, coaches doing some experimenting and at small high schools, how many guys on the team are still playing football.

When I was calling high school basketball, I had a game at Celina, which was playing their first game well into December. I believe all of Celina's players were on the football team the made it late into the state playoffs. I think my partner and I called about 20 fouls on the home team in the first half. Their guys were still in football mode. THey were playing Caligsburg, who I believe won the game.

But the funny thing was head football coach G.A. Moore, who was also the Celina AD. He was sitting down on the baseline sitting next to the entrance to the officials dressing room, and not happy about all the fouls the home team was having called. And voicing it. As game administrator, his number one job is to make sure the officials are protected and taken care of. Pays you, provides a halftime snack and soda. Makes sure nobody sneaks in to steal our wallets. G.A. was unhappy.

My partner was a really good official, but maybe the smallest male official in the Dallas chapter. G. J. When we walked off the floor at halftime, G.J. told Coach Moore that if he was going to yell at us, he was going to have to sit in the stands like the other fans.

When we came out for the second half, G.A. was sitting in the stands. He was a good guy, but basketball does things to you.

And the story is to make the point, that the smaller the school, the more likely you might be to beat somebody in February or March, who beat you pretty good in a pre district tournament.
