OU needs to name its new coach asap.....

Losing commitments, transfers and now the Notre Dame job is open as Lynch is off to LSU. Notre Dame can probably get any coach it's after.
Names I keep reading about for OU are Ruhle, Venables, Cristobal, Heupel, Aranda and Kingsbury.
Only Venables and Aranda appeal to me from what little information I have on them.
I do not want Heupel or Kingsbury.
Any more rumors or information emerging ?

I have heard Lanning ( UGA DC ), Lebby and some I dont even know who they are being mentioned. Joe Brady is another name I have heard.

However I do think it will be Venerables.

Riley getting paid more than Saban and Swinney. Riley has no NC's, no playoff wins, 3 playoff beatdowns, he has won some conference championships and lost a couple of regular season games a year that he shouldn't have.

So Venebles is the guy, but it cannot be announced until the state requirement time passes. So Bob goes out there, with BV's instructions does the sell. Tonight, I'm told three coaches will be in Lubbock with McKenzie. One of them Bob. So Bob can tell them who's coming. And what the hold up is. Interestingly, Odom is there also, which probably means he is being retained. Some here like that. Some don't. I think it's great.

It shows where the integrity in the coaching staff lies.

If hes the guy then why are there all these pics on twitter of him visiting recruits for Clemson? I want it to be him as much as anyone, but I just dont see it happening.

You may be right. What is everyone’s opinion of Shane Beamer. I really don’t know much about him outside of his short tenure at OU but I read where someone said what he did at So. Carolina was impressive considering what he had to work with. I looked at So. Carolina’s record and am not impressed? What’s his claim to fame? I know who his dad is. I just read where So. Carolina was projected to win 3 games but won 6 this year

I hope not. He's a good guy. A solid Sooner of the program. But he's in retirement mode. And I'm afraid the recruiting would drop off too much. He is to be commended on his temp return though for sure.

If nothing is named this week then I bet it’s Dan Lanning at Georgia. 1st phone call was probably Venables and waiting his decision. Ruhle would take too long to be free but I would like that too

I guess I am missing some things. Ruhle great coach. He ain't leaving the NFL after one year to take a paycut for a college gig. Joe Brady ain't coming to OU as an OC.

What is clear, Joe C. And Administration had no clue this was coming; that part of LR's timeline is true. I do not believe there are any mandatory timelines in place. I doubt there is a requirement to "post" a job opening for college football coach at a public institution. Even if there is, a coach accepting the job can be announced and the school signs off at a later date during proper quorum.

I do not believe BV is an option. Reading between the lines there would be more obvious movements. I do not think he is a match with J.C. (and Stoops sitting in the same room).

I could see Joe Brady as a head coach candidate, to maintain the stranglehold on offensive recruits OU has managed to build up. To balance this equation, a more experienced defensive coordinator would be a perfect compliment (e.g. Gary Patterson). An outstanding defensive mind with head coaching experience for a somewhat inexperienced coach to lean on.

Another thing: as LR's true story of his planned departure becomes more clear and defined his true character will be on display. Because of HIS choice to take a coward's approach, he will gut the current OU roster (transfers, NFL draft), this year's current commits, and 2023 commits.

Yes I understand verbal commits haven't signed, but with the transfer portal it is now a year to year operation. LR truly screwed the very school who helped bring him to prominence.

I would love to have a beer with Bob and get his feelings; he knows how this went down. I have no problem with a coach or a player making a decision to better themselves. Players transferring , decommiting, etc. I understand. A coach going apocalyptic on the way out the door is wrong. But hey he had some good tears for players on Sunday and again on Monday at his press conference at USC...tears of joy.

I really hope it's not the Oregon coach. Am I wrong in hoping that? Also IMO it is imperative that the new head coach announce his OC maybe DC too at the same time so it could be a situation where OU is waiting on confirmation from a Coordinator as well.

Brent has a job and is doing it. Recruiting trip probably planned days, if not weeks, ago. Riley leaving just happened Sunday. Very Possible OU contacted Brent after the visit that was posted.
