We are 3-5 on the year. We got swept by Sam Houston State this weekend. These are not elite teams that we are getting beat by.

Hughes has to go he is not the answer. We should have known that when Golloway beat Va Tech and Hughes in the tourney a few years ago. And those games were played in Blacksburg.

No reason whatsoever for losing these games.

I think it was a mistake to hire a guy who was from ACC territory. Assuming he could recruit the midlands or Cali was hopeful. We can do better than hopeful.

Agreed PS...I never have understood hiring a coach, in a lower profile sport (no offense baseball fans) from outside the region unless he has NC type credentials...

I think recruiting is so much harder than football and basketball...

Since I do mention the losses of our baseball team. I should point out the wins as well. We did beat Central Ark yesterday 3-0.

We are 4-5 on the year.

One of the three runs in the Tuesday win came on Cody's solo homer. If the Sooners can't score more than three runs against the midweek starter from Central Arkansas, it's likely going to be a very long season. 4-5? We would be a middle of the road Division II team at this point.

We are now 4-7 on the year. We got beat by USC and UCLA. We play Miss. State tomorrow. At least the games were close and both USC and UCLA are good. Unfortunately Miss St is also good. A win is unlikely.

OU Baseball played to 5-5 tie today against Miss St. How does a baseball game end in a tie? We are 0-2-1 against ranked teams. That doesn't count 2-2 against Northeastern or being swept by Sam Houston St.

If anyone gets annoyed with me for just adding to this thread - Ill stop.

I love baseball and am disgusted with Hughes. I couldn't stand Golloway either. I met Seymour and Cochell. I even tried to walk on to OU in the mid 80's. (I wasn't good enough). This non sense with Hughes has to stop!

keep up with the good reporting.

We all need to take an objective look at our sports programs. At times it won't be popular and you will unfortunately encounter unhealthy, non-questioning, and blind loyalist resistance.

No you're spot on and most I talk to agree. Hiring a coach from outside the region (who didn't have a good track record anyway) was foolish.
He's been forced to play a young roster due to so many leaving for last year's draft. Somehow I doubt they all left due to the big money waiting for them! My guess is they simply wanted out of the dumpster fire!

And they weren't so great last year.

Not sure how good Wichita ST is this yr but OU did win 4-2 yesterday.

Our record is 5-7-1 (I think). We play a 3 game set against Long Beach St beginning on Friday.

I'm still not sure if I should just keeping adding to this thread or start a new thread for each series we play.

But OU plays Long Beach St tonight at 6pm in Norman. It is on FSSW and is a great way to watch Sooner baseball while we wait for the WVU / OU basketball game.

I'm hoping we go 2-0 tonight (Baseball and Basketball of course)
