Agree.
I have been to numerous Army games there since 1987.
Prior to the 2016 season, when Army went 8-5, it seemed that fans went to see the scenery, the campus, the parades, the parachute jump before the start of games and there was not much concern over the outcome of games....which were usually Army defeats.
Two memories of mine were:
Prior to the 1987 games with Temple, 5 or 6 parachute jumpers bailed out of a helicopter hovering over the stadium. The last parachuter, who had the game ball for Army, jumped out and started his descent...seconds went by as we awaited for his chute to open....more seconds went by.....still more seconds went by. I turned to my wife and said that if his chute doesn't open, we're leaving. Everyone around us started gasping. Finally his chute opened and he landed safely and handed the ball to the Army team captains. Turns out that his main chute failed to open and he had to deploy his backup chute. This was one of the best laxatives I've had, to say the least.
The second one was when I saw Army lose to Louisville in 2004, 52-21. As the game was ending, I asked a cadet if he thought Army would ever upgrade its program to become more competitive. He looked me in the eye and immediately replied "That's not what we're here for, sir." I crawled back under my rock and the conversation was over.
Anyway, I will be at the 2020 OU-Army game, wherever it's played, hopefully at Michie Stadium. I hope I see a game like last year's game.
Army has always been my second favorite team, starting when my dad took me to so many games while we lived in northern New Jersey in the 1960's. I had hoped that I would see Army become at least as competitive as the other two academy schools, Air Force and Navy. Looks like my wish has been granted.
