I was in the Army and really enjoyed the 2018 home game. I would very much like to go in 2020, but ONLY if the game is at West Point. I keep hearing persistent rumors it will be held in NYC at Yankee Stadium. If that is the case, I'm out. Anyone have any insight into this at this point?

It's at Michie Stadium on the West Point campus. One of the best venues in the country to see a college football game.

The stadium, as I understand it, is undergoing an extensive renovation and there has been speculation that it would not be ready by the OU game; however, I've read where West Point officials have stated unequivocally that it will be ready.

It's good to know Army is climbing back to playing big time football again, while maintaining its high standards.
I'll put my money on the OU game being played at Michie Stadium in 19 months.
If a neutral site happens, my guess is Giants Stadium over Yankee Stadium since it will still be baseball season.

Like everyone else, I have heard it will be at West Point...

It's on my bucket list to attend...

40,000 seats for a school with attendance around 5,000. Roughly 7,000 residents in town. My guess is that you will always be able to find a seat at Michie right up until kickoff.

Not for an Oklahoma game and not with stadium expansion in the works and hopefully completed. Your guess is wrong unless Michie Stadium is not finished with its renovations and the game is moved to Giant Stadium or Yankee Stadium (which holds about 48,000 for football).
OU has played Iowa State, Kansas and Kansas State on the road in front of anywhere from 22,000-58,000 so playing Army at West Point in from of 45,000-55,000 should not be an issue.
OU plays Missouri State....Missouri State....Tennessee and Army next year, so I'm sure the networks will be sure to put the Army game on PPV again so we aren't deprived of watching Missouri State in the opener.
The game should be played at Michie Stadium. It was there that OU played Army's 1946 champions, losing 21-7, thanks in part to a 90 yard fumble return by Army late in the game when OU was about to score the tying touchdown. The game went a long way in putting OU's program on the map.

I'm actually torn on this one. The OU game is in 2020 and I have a 45th reunion the following year--doubt I'll make both. That said, my family (son is a 2000 grad) is pushing for a family get together at the Sooners game so we'll see how it turns out. Yeah, I'm getting old...sigh.

^This is all exactly entirely correct. This will be a very tough ticket and it’s not even in doubt ...

I have already spoken with plenty of OU fans who are already who saying they and their families want to make this trip... provided that its played in Michie Stadium.

If the Michie Stadium renovations are not finished in 2020... Then with all the hope I can muster I hope the game is moved to a year when the Michie Stadium renovations are entirely completed.

I encourage all OU fans to contact the OU's president's office about the desire to make sure this game played in West Point.
It's a location that is a very big part of OU's history.

If you get the opportunity to go to West Point for the game take a camera. The campus is beautiful and the stadium is a great experience. I may try to get my nephew to see if he can score us some tickets as he is in the area and is retired Army.

Agree.
I have been to numerous Army games there since 1987.
Prior to the 2016 season, when Army went 8-5, it seemed that fans went to see the scenery, the campus, the parades, the parachute jump before the start of games and there was not much concern over the outcome of games....which were usually Army defeats.
Two memories of mine were:
Prior to the 1987 games with Temple, 5 or 6 parachute jumpers bailed out of a helicopter hovering over the stadium. The last parachuter, who had the game ball for Army, jumped out and started his descent...seconds went by as we awaited for his chute to open....more seconds went by.....still more seconds went by. I turned to my wife and said that if his chute doesn't open, we're leaving. Everyone around us started gasping. Finally his chute opened and he landed safely and handed the ball to the Army team captains. Turns out that his main chute failed to open and he had to deploy his backup chute. This was one of the best laxatives I've had, to say the least.
The second one was when I saw Army lose to Louisville in 2004, 52-21. As the game was ending, I asked a cadet if he thought Army would ever upgrade its program to become more competitive. He looked me in the eye and immediately replied "That's not what we're here for, sir." I crawled back under my rock and the conversation was over.
Anyway, I will be at the 2020 OU-Army game, wherever it's played, hopefully at Michie Stadium. I hope I see a game like last year's game.
Army has always been my second favorite team, starting when my dad took me to so many games while we lived in northern New Jersey in the 1960's. I had hoped that I would see Army become at least as competitive as the other two academy schools, Air Force and Navy. Looks like my wish has been granted.

I always enjoy your great stories. Thank you for that and chuckled when you mentioned the cadets remark back to you.

I have only been once back in 1977 when they opened with VMI. I was in Army basic Training at Ft Dix and they treated us to a game as our graduating present for living through those many weeks of hell. I now cherish those times more than anything as it was the greatest time of my military life during my 8 years of service.

West Point will leave a lasting impression on anyone who ever visits.
