My desire to see this streak unsurpassed made me root for Texas in the 2005 championship game with USC. I thought USC could threaten the 47 streak if it beat Texas.

Call me a dirty name, but I’ll always root for Texas whenever they play Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State or Miami. Other than those crappy schools, I’d go for the Longhorns’ opponent every time. Top five programs I root against in that order.

I was at Owen Field and saw the loss to nd that preceded the win streak.

Fast forward: I graduated (from OU of course). Went to the Army. (Korea). Came home, got a job, got engaged.

The next game I saw was at Owen Field....the loss to nd.

Bookends.

So.....nd has a special place in my "dislike/hate" register.

Ditto. Possibly one of just two or three times in my life where I ever rooted for the horns. Only because they were playing Miami or USC.
