OT: What happened to the plate in Hostess Cupcakes

These cupcakes used to come with a little cardboard plate. Not its just a cupcake loosey goosey cupcake rattling around an empty chamber.

Does anyone know if this was some sort of cost saving measure?

Lousy way to make a friggin buck. Also, the cupcakes look smaller.
