For recreational target practice ?
I support your right to own a gun or many guns. I'm just curious what one does with such a weapon, other than for target practice.
What would anyone do with any gun? Killing other people isn't something that we legal gun owners do.
I don't just like guns, I love guns. I grew up with guns. I shoot for the fun of it. I like the smell of burnt gun powder
I clean them. I look at them. I have other gun owner friends and we talk about guns and munitions. We go the the range, shoot a few rounds and then go have lunch and a beer.
I have other hobbies. I love to work with wood. I make table and desk tops. I have recently built a Mahogany desk for my wife. I built some cabinets for her. In the past month I have put up a fence, built a book case for my collection. Built a cherry wood desk and other things for my office. I have more tools and wood working gadgets than you could possibly understand? However, if I had told you I bought a new saw you would have never asked me that question.
I have a question for you. Do you have any hobbies or things you enjoy? Do you play golf? If so how many golf items do you own? How many different courses do you play? Do you have friends who also golf and do you go play a round of golf with them and then go have lunch and a beer? I don't golf, but I have friends that golf and they all have more and different clubs than they could ever possibly use.
I hear this question asked of gun owners all the time. It is like we have to justify our sport and our diversion from the mundane things in life. I know people with weird hobbies who spend a ton of money buying weird accessories and spending time with their weird friends enjoying their weird hobby.
Why is it that gun lovers have to justify why they buy a new gun?
The safest place to be is being surrounded by gun owners who have carry conceal permits. People with carry conceal permits can't be felons. They can't ever have had a restraining order against them.
They can't be aliens. They can't have been certified as being nuts [mentally deranged]. They have to go through a safety course. They are finger printed and ran through the FBI criminal databases. They have to be clean, honest and up front good people.
The statistics show that, nationally, less than 0.007% of people who have carry conceal permits commit a felony. Whereas, about 10.00% of all US citizens have committed a felony or are in prison for a felony. In Florida it is about 14%. It varies by state. So, the question is if you wanted to be cooped up with 10 Oklahoma citizens [picked at random] you don't know would you rather be cooped up with those with carry conceal permits or take your chances with the Oklahoma general population?
