I live in far northern VA, so maybe this says something about this area more than Texas fans in general, but I think the latter is the problem.
Our office building's first floor is an imaging center. I see an idiot waiting near the restrooms wearing an orange hat, and when he turns I notice it's a Texas hat. Super triggered, I say something like "it's hate week and your hat offends me". He looks at me like I have two heads.
Dude didn't even know the game was this weekend, and didn't seem to even realize it was a rivalry game or why he should care after a pretty thorough explanation. Walking away he still didn't seem to get it.
