I started out with a barrel smoker years ago and hated it. I never got the hang of controlling the temperature on it. I've had 4 offset smokers since then and really like them. I'm about to retire to Oklahoma or New Mexico and will be buying a new smoker. I'm tempted to try an electric pellet smoker for the first time. They look super easy to use (duh) and maybe better for a cold or windy day. My 2 questions; 1. Is the taste relatively close to what you get with a wood burning smoker, and 2. for anyone that has used both, are there any drawbacks to the electric? In doing some research, it really only looks like capacity to me. Thanks for any feedback.
