I am in the market for a shotgun. It will be used primarily as a home defense weapon. I have my eyes set on a Mossberg Maverick 88 pump-action 12 gauge (18.5"). Anyone have good or bad experiences with this? I can get it at Academy for $189 right now. A lot of people swear by the Remington 870 Express, but I have also had a couple people tell me their QC has gone to sh*t in the past few years. I do not want to spend $1000+. I won't go hunting with it. Just want it around in case sh*t hits the fan. I want a good value on something that will be used rarely. Before you try to talk me into a handgun, I already have a 9mm Ruger.
