Since football season is (hopefully) just around the corner, I wanted to provide an update about Red & West, my gameday apparel side project. I know that the Corner isn't LinkedIn, and out of respect for the Mods' business, I won't be 'obnoxious business promoter guy' that does this a lot. Here is a teaser: there is a discount code for you at the end of this.
If you remember / care, I worked with OU to get a bunch of Switzer polos made. Thanks to many of you, I sold out of those pretty quickly. I have 6 size Smalls left (they're not listed on my site anymore; DM me if you want one). For several reasons, it doesn't make sense for me to keep selling those in the near term, and I've taken the site in a new direction. Hopefully in the long term I can bring those back.
As a follow up act, I've pivoted the brand towards becoming a lifestyle brand that sells apparel "for people that are obsessed with Oklahoma." (Just what the word needs, another lifestyle clothing brand!) I've developed some new logos that I think are pretty cool and while the name of the business is still Red & West, I'm having some fun with things and made up a fake country club as a backstory for the new logos. Think University of Okoboji if you're familiar with Lake Okoboji in Iowa.
A quick word on the new products: Everything but the hats (printed on demand and drop-shipped) are sitting in my guest room and can ship ASAP. I used 2 suppliers for the current round of products; one of those suppliers is a newish brand called Turtleson that uses the same factory in South Korea as Peter Millar for their (and now my) polos. The tee shirt is Comfort Colors and were printed in Norman.
Part of the reason I started this is because when I looked at the gameday apparel market, I saw a barbell: inexpensive but low quality and relatively unattractive products on one end, but then on the other, much more expensive products from more recognizable brands - however I've just never felt that the quality or uniqueness from those more major brands justified their much higher price tags. So I am going to try to sit in the middle: good quality products at a mid-range price point.
No worries at all if my designs or price points aren't for you. However, if you're interested, use code "scooptown" for 10% off any order. Please keep that code on the board, I want it to be a benefit just for Scoopers. That code will run until 8/29. We also have an email list and social media if you want to give us a follow.
Thank you, stay hard, and (trigger warning) Boomer Sooner.
