Bored and can't sleep.
Who would be your starting 5, based on all-time greats?
I'd want guys that compliment the heck out of each other... with a major emphasis on high powered offense and a couple elite defenders...
For the main lineup, and one that I would trust to dominate anyone...
PG - Magic Johnson
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Lebron James
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Bill Russell ... but Wilt, Hakeem, Kareem, and Shaq all get close here.
I've got 5 different eras covered there (well... you might count Duncan and Lebron in the same category... but considering they'll be inducted into the HoF about 10 years apart from each other, I figured that counted as separate eras).
And just for fun, and because I think it'd be really interesting to see these guys on the floor in their prime...
"Stretch and score... w/ some clutch and D" lineup:
PG - Steph Curry
SG - Ray Allen
SF - Michael Jordan
PF - Lebron James
C - Larry Bird
Bruiser lineup:
PG - Isiah Thomas
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Lebron James
PF - Charles Barkley/Tim Duncan
C - Shaq - is there anyone more bruising to guard in the paint?
Big lineup:
PG - Michael Jordan (6'6") ... or ... Magic Johnson (6'9")
SG - Lebron James (6'8") ... or ... Michael Jordan (6'6")
SF - Larry Bird (6'9")
PF - Tim Duncan (6'11"
C - Kareem (7'2")
...just can't keep Jordan off the court.
...and yeah... I consider Jordan and Lebron the 2 best in NBA history. Just unbelievably versatile... Lebron can play virtually any position on the court and defend any position on the court, and Jordan was dominant in all facets, not to mention his clutch performances and shots.
